Active shooter reportedly attacks TV crew in Virginia

DEVELOPING: An active shooter has been reported at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia, according to multiple local media outlets.
Video from the scene appeared to show a WDBJ media crew being attacked in the midst of a live report. The station confirmed the shooting involved one of its crews.
Police are reporting there are three victims, according to WSLS. The shooting occurred at 6:45 a.m., according to Franklin County Sheriff Department spokesperson Phillip Young.
WSLS said police are still looking for the shooter and hope to have a description out to the public shortly.

Okay.....if I was gonna spitball this, I’d posit the theory of a crime of passion. First find out if the on-air reporter was married or involved with someone. Then I’d check into the camera man about relationships, connections or work with the on-air reporter “off camera.”

I know the area well. It’s rural God and country conservative. Very low crime. I’ve never seen someone I would consider Muslim there. My hunch is a domestic incident.

2 dead - woman being interviewed airlifted to hospital.
I’m not ruling out a terror attack - the picture shows a darker skin man/beard/dressed in black from head to toe. We’ll see what details come up when they catch this guy.

The cameraman was engaged, but his fiancé was relocating from another state - not the reporter.

The 24 year old reporter and her 27 year old cameraman (and fiance) were both killed.Updated information says that while the cameraman and reporter were both engaged, they were not engaged to each other.

Ah...ok. WDBJ7 is our local station. I’ve met several of the reporters and a good, friend of ours has a son who works as a cameraman for the station...so it’s close to home and rather scary :( not to mention very, very sad.
