WASHINGTON -- For months there has appeared to be one roadblock standing between Donald Trump and victory in the Republican presidential primary campaign: The large number of people who didnt like him. While poll after poll found him in the lead, they also found him with some of the highest unfavorable numbers -- meaning people had already formed an opinion of him, and it wasnt positive.
But two polls released Tuesday in early primary states show that dislike evaporating. A South Carolina poll conducted by Monmouth University found Trump with 58 percent holding a favorable opinion and 28 percent, an unfavorable opinion. A Public Policy Polling survey of New Hampshire voters found 56 percent holding a favorable opinion and 32 percent, an unfavorable opinion.
Its a phenomenon we have never really seen before -- an already extremely well-known figure who can completely flip his favorability ratings in the span of weeks [without the intervention of a national emergency or similar event], said Patrick Murray, the pollster who conducted the South Carolina poll and has also recently conducted surveys nationally and in Iowa. But of course, that rule has applied to our experience with typical politicians. Trump is completely outside the box.

You’re spot on with that observation.
A little background would have informed us of Trump, that in building hundreds of successful businesses, only a very few (like 4) were taken through bankruptcy. So his batting average, his track record is near perfect which is amazing.
If the debate moderators had been fair and if there had been enough time, I would like to have seen some brutal honesty exposed in this type of ‘fair’ question:
“Mr. Trump, the United States of America is insolvent, essentially bankrupt. It cannot declare bankruptcy because it is sovereign. You have successfully taken four companies through Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection to reorganize and restructure their debt, how would you approach taking the United States through a similar process to make it financially sound and solvent?”
Now that would have been a beautiful question to hear DT respond to but instead the moron debate moderators had to give us a dose of feminist crap, loads of political correctness and stupid gotcha questions.
Indeed post #33 is well expressed. Kudos!
Yes. Exactly. The questions I ask myself is who do I want negotiating budget deals (Trump)? And, whose finger do I want on the nuclear button (Cruz)?
Actually, Trump is very well controlled in person. Look at the guff he took from that Jorge character before he finally had him removed. Now, John Kasich, my beloved governor, probably would have exploded. He is known for his explosive temper.
It is a sign if the times. Americans are desperate for a leader that is on the same team they are. Bush 1 was all about the “New World Order” which is a slick way of labeling the collusion of global elite to rape and pillage the wealth of nations for their own benefit. Every president since has been furthering the NWO agenda. The national leadership of both the Democrat and the Republican parties are true NWO disciples and hate the American middle class.
His critics, for the most part, are not...the comparison works in his favor.
That’s a brilliant question. I would love to hear him answer that question.
It’s not just the Administration, IMO...he’ll need to take on the eGOP also.
I don’t want to defend condescension, but he’s right. Trump does reach LIVs very well. I’ll point out that not all Trump supporters are LIVs.
Well said.
I agree. Thanks to Trump all the rest except for Cruz are being shown up as this cycle’s version of mediocrity. I leave Ben Carson out because he’s a nice man and smart and not a politician but do you want him taking the 3:00 AM phone call? I also hate to lump Bobby Jindal in with the rest but he just isn’t getting any traction.
For me its either Trump or Cruz.
