I THINK I INVENTED THE TRUMPS, Part II
Liz began her sum-up yesterday of what she wrote when first meeting the Trumps.
This analysis was published in 2000 in her memoir "Natural Blonde."
The story will conclude on August 26th in this space.
I noted that Donald Trump had attacked a paralyzed, stultified New York bureaucracy and given commerce, construction and business a real shot in the arm. I asked, "If you love democratic capitalism, how can you hate Donald Trump?" I spoke of the other ruthless tycoons I'd heard opine that Trump couldn't last. I said I hoped he wouldn't self-destruct. And I added that one reason I liked Donald was because he reminded me of my tall, good-looking brothers in the days when the world was their oyster. I added that I knew they were really good guys under their egos — good guys with soft centers. I thought Donald had a soft center, too. "And, anyway, I can't resist a man who calls me 'honey-bun.'" I noted that someday I might hear that standing in the White House receiving line.*
The Internet gossip columnist Jeannette Walls says in her excellent book, Dish, that Donald Trump "botched the story of his own divorce when he refused to talk to Liz Smith, and the columnist took up the cause of his wife, Ivana." This is an interesting theory but it's not quite as simple as that.
*In 1999, Trump supporters launched thedonald2000.org, a Web site dedicated to urging him to make the race sometime in the future. He took it seriously for a little while, but finally came to his senses.

She’s been around awhile.. She’s kicked more than a few up and down.. And I’m not talking martinis.
Not sure when she was born, but LaGuardia was probably Mayor of NYC then.
She’s in her 80s I think.
I remember watching a Barbara Walters special sometime around 1980. She interviewed four “super rich.” One of the four was Donald Trump. He was proclaiming himself a billionaire back then. I would love to see that video again. I’ve looked on Google, but haven’t been able to find it.
That’s pretty good considering the environment there.. WE all should live that long. ;-)
He’s far from perfect...as this article points out.
But then either am I. And if he does what he is saying he can make this a better place. I think.

I’m not crazy about adulterers. Woody Allen, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mark Stanford, etc. make me skeeve. But right now we are a gazillion dollars in debt, and there are hundreds of treaties, laws, deals and regulations on the books and a raft of liberal judges on the bench assuring America’s demise. We need a ballbuster, a backbreaker, a bulldog, a take-no-prisoners generallissimo to bulldoze this mess and redevelop it. Therefore, And at least Trump marries his girlfriends.
Should have read, "Therefore, I'm for Donald Trump because he is the only candidate qualified."
You said what I think. We’re not trying to elect a saint...we need someone to turn the tide out of this giant mess.
