Apparently all children had to re-register even though they may have attended last year but this wasn’t conveyed. Lots of really hot parents because they bought a house in a certain area because of the school. Even though they live across the street from the school and their children attended last year, find they are going to be reassigned. Just pretty normal screw-up for a Houston program.

Going to be interesting to see what all is uncovered when they have a new mayor.

Girls get seats, boys stand. Well unless it’s Houston and a boy can wear a dress.

Wow! That looks exactly like my 1st grade picture.
The picture was taken in East Meadow, LI. I grew up a few miles away in West Hempstead and my class pictures look exactly like that too.
Man, WTH did the time go?

I don’t understand why citizens have let these injustices go on for so long.

Baby boomer classes were huge. We never had enough desks and many classes had 40-45 students.
And despite that, the vast majority of us did very well in school.
Unlike today, where teachers whine that class sizes of 20-25 are necessary for the pooooooor students to learn properly. More union BS.

I guess they wouldn't pass the Target test.

IIRC, Houston ISD eliminated the BC requirement this year. Maybe even the vaccine requirement. Surely, it can’t be all those illegals stealing desks from tax paying US citizen students, right? Also, I think Obama dumped a bunch of his muzzy immigrants in Houston.

Pure incompetence. This is an upscale neighborhood and the school itself is newly rebuilt within the last several years. There’s no reason that a child that lives within a few blocks from the school should not be able to attend.

I had to make a believer out of some school administrator about twice a year when mine were in school. They’re nothing but bullies. Stand up to a bully and you soon find out how really weak they are.

This happened back in the early '50s as the Baby Boomers started school.

I'm one of those boomers. My elementary school in the early 1950s was a large set of buildings with three floors, still didn't have enough room. So the auditorium was sectioned off with temporary movable dividers with curtains to create a half-dozen classes for kindergarten and 1st-graders. It sucked because it was so noisy. They ended up remodeling to expand the school.

You know all those government workers made sure the illegals were put in classes so that they could get more money from the government.

oh, side topic, that is why the mentally ill are put in prison and many in county jails are sent to state prison when they can’t afford a good lawyer. State appointed attorneys, working to bring in the fed bucks.

We never had enough desks and many classes had 40-45 students.

Today's classes only have 14-17 students. Raise that to the 40 we had and they'll have plenty of room for US citizen students. This lefty never had a problem with the right handed desks. The problem is right handed teachers made lefties turn their paper the wrong direction. Right handers have the top of their paper angled about 11 o'clock. That's what causes the upside down crooked wrists for left handers. We need our paper angled at a 1 o'clock angle. Do that and you're not writing upside down and most people will never notice to exclaim, "Hey, you're left handed!!!"

Just a few years before me as I started kindergarten in 1960 but most classrooms looked just like that, right down to the desks and number of students. I see at least three kids in that classroom that badly need eye surgery. Anybody else see it that way or is it just an artifact of the photo?

Send the crimexicans packing Donald......Donald?? Huston school board and Governor Abbott should be held accountable.....parents whose children were turned away should get a refund on their property taxes.

I’m sure this has nothing to do with schools having to deal with newly arrived children of illegal aliens.

If any story like this that doesn’t present a clear explanation, it’s because the media and/or the school district are trying hide something, most likely a high percentage of children from illegal alien households.
