Trump widens lead over U.S. Republican presidential field: Reuters poll (Now 32% pulling away)

Republican Donald Trump is pulling away from the pack in the race for the party's U.S. presidential nomination, widening his lead over his closest rivals in the past week, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Friday.

Republican voters show no signs they are growing weary of the brash real estate mogul, who has dominated political headlines and the 17-strong Republican presidential field with his tough talk about immigration and insults directed at his political rivals. The candidates are vying to be nominated to represent their party in the November 2016 general election.

Nearly 32 percent of Republicans surveyed online said they backed Trump, up from 24 percent a week earlier, the opinion poll found. Trump had nearly double the support of his closest competitor, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who got 16 percent. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson was third at 8 percent.

Even when Trump was pitted directly in the poll against just his top two competitors, 44 percent backed him. Bush won about 29 percent of respondents, and Carson 25 percent.

"He's not taking any guff from anybody," Dewey Stedman, 70, a Republican from East Wenatchee, Washington, said of the publicity-loving billionaire. "If you don't have something in your brains, you're not going to have billions of dollars."

Trump is costing Bush a lot of supporters.

I don't think so. Most, if not all, of Trump's supporters agree with him when he says, "No more Bushes!" Did you see his Instagram ad with Barbara Bush saying she doesn't want any more Bushes to run for President?

Jeb is the reason Donald said he cannot support just any person nominated in the GOP.

I don’t trust any of them, but I do actually trust Trump the most of any of them. That does surprise me a bit. It must be because he doesn’t hold back but just says what has to be said, and there is no GOPe control over him which there is over all the rest to some degree. If Cruz had Trump’s money I would feel more confident he would really change things if elected, but I don’t have that confidence/trust in him because he has been reserved in some decisions and voted the wrong way a few times that sure look like he is being maneuvered by his money bigwigs.

I agree with some others the delegate process is fixed and that concerns me. I would rather Trump as GOP nominee than as third party run.

My hope is Trump/Cruz ticket and death to the GOPe and Washington Party/ Cartel corrupt political system.

Barbara Pierce Bush, an avid abortion booster, was just speaking off the cuff. She didn’t mean it.

Did you know that Boehner’s health lawyer advisor resigned today, and that she’s the sister of the woman featured on the videos negotiating to buy baby parts from planned parenthood?

I read that, yesterday. Tangled webs are what they weave.

I do not believe just because Trump is drawing crowds like Obama he is another Obama. No way. No one could be like Obama.

I do believe though that there are people on the right that are fawning over Trump just like the left did over Obama.

Thinking they are playing a “turn about fair play” game. Replacing a left hand with a right hand if you will.

When it gets down to the wire and Trump is the last mad standing against the left’s Communist or Socialist pick, I will go with Trump.

But, for now Cruz is my check mark for his steady demeanor and constitutional stances.

A lady called Rush’s show today, talked with Mark Steyn, and her take was that since Trump was drawing huge crowds in the same fashion that Obama did, then that means Trump was another Obama.

Maybe Trump should only rent campaign venues where the capacity is 100 or less so he won't look like Obama.

The idiotic comments by these morons seems endless.

But he also more identifies as a Democrat... he is to the Left of the last two RINO/GOP candidates we had.

LOL is that you Karl Rove?

I despise the evil GOPe with every bone in my body. They have repeatedly betrayed us.

Karl Rove, GOPe and all Yebbie's absolutely hate Conservatives. They can FOAD.

Trump is taking it to the extremely evil elites -- it's a wonderful thing.

I prefer you eat shit and die. Wise up or get lost in the Bushes for a third time. The Trump train has left the station and is speeding toward inevitability. Next stop, Inevitability.

Well stated, Bravo!!!

“I do believe though that there are people on the right that are fawning over Trump just like the left did over Obama.”

I can’t conceive on anyone fawning over Obama.

I think that I’m a typical Trump supporter, and I don’t “fawn” over Trump. As I understand the term, it refers to an intense infatuation over someone. I’m a supporter, because of what he says, and has been saying, for years. As a result, I believe he means what he says. The country is being deconstructed, in case you have not noticed. And these smiling fools with the same smiling talking points will not stop it. They are clueless, or more probably, enablers. Can you discern any difference between Jeb!, Kasich, etc.? They are all lukewarm.

I did not say yo amigo.....I said “people”. You were furthest from my thoughts

I have talked to people and have seen comments that have said that Trump he is going to come in and change everything. He will fix what the middle class has been deprived of for so long. He will change everything Obama broke. These people are NUTS. A President cannot fix everything that is broke with this country and saying so is “fawning” over a person in my book.

You said you cannot “conceive of anyone fawning over Obama’. Holy cow, there were women out there wanting to have his baby....!!!! They voted for him cause “he was good looking”.

Yeah I have noticed the country is being deconstructed (and I have noticed, thanks for the crude remark) and it did not start with Obama if you have been paying attention but probably not. You probably just mark the R box.

Yes I can discern a difference between Jeb, Kasich, etc. One has help to win Florida in a winner take all State. One does not.
