“These people don’t know what they’re doing, George,” Trump told Stephanopoulos. “They’re politicians.”

Trump channeling Captain Obvious and Mr. Redundant.

This is Trump’s function - pound, lie and so on about the other candidates until he get’s the nomination, then lose in the general. The Hillary fix may be in.

Trump is beating Hillary, why would someone with an ego like Trump just hand that over the presidency to her especially since Hillary could be facing prison time? Doesn't make sense.

No, as far as I can tell, he's a dishonest huckster, and as far as I am concerned his followers are Dupes for Donald.

Seriously, if you follow any politician, you will be "duped". We were screwed by the last people we sent to congress. If you don't have equal disdain for the other politicians who are running, you may be a "dupe" as well.

Trump kinda reminds me of Obama somewhat. He wants what he wants everybody be damned. He might try executive orders or memo’s to try to get his way, he is used to getting his way, he will not play nice with our representatives. We don’t need another unconstitutional dictator.

It could be. But he’s been hard line on the border/immigration issue.

Just what everybody wanted to hear. The only problem is that he hasn't said a word about HOW he plans to get that done with a deportation system that includes hearings, lawyers, etc.

But as far as turning on a dime, I think they all would. Possibly not Cruz, who appears to be the singular embodiment of Mr. Smith.

As I said. I have some problems with Mr. Cruz (H1b, TPA, Corker...) but at least he has had the stones to hold over the target.

Ted Cruz against Hillary Clinton would be a slaughter. The Nice Guy up against Lucrezia Borgia.

If you haven't detected Cruz' edges, then you don't understand why the left is so scared of him.

But it’s to Trump’s eternal credit that he has made Mexican illegal immigration THE issue in America.

There we disagree. It was the media handing him the bullhorn that did that.

It could all be a con. Maybe he and Mr. Bill are running the game.

As you know, that is what I think is going on. That "phone call" against Trump's consistent background as a Democrat, has me spooked.

None have earned my support. We're definitely in a "lesser of evils" situation here.

his statement was so badly mangled i couldn’t bring myself to try and correct him. Anyone who puts out a sentence like that won’t understand anything at all.

‘That is why I am wondering why Scott Walker or his PACS aren’t making and running commercials saying how great it is in Wisconsin.’

I am wondering the same thing. Walker’s supporters are working like rented mules to defend him. Why can’t they simply post Walker’s response, thereby letting *him* do the yeoman’s share of the work?

“Trump needs to start toning down his criticism of Republicans. Instead he should direct most of his critism towards Obama, Hillary, and the failed Democrat policies that have created the humongous debt, millions out of work, an increase in welfare/poverty, and a decrease in income for the middle class.”

Why? Today he’s running against Republicans for the nomination who are attacking him. His job is to build himself up and tear down the opposition so he can win the nomination. If he wins the nomination it will be time for him to go after the Democrat nominee with even greater energy.

As to the other Republican candidates, if they can’t respond effectively to Trump, one of two things is true:
1) They aren’t prepared to take on Hillary, Biden, Warren, or whoever else the Democrats put up as the candidate in 2016. The lies and distortions the Democrats and their friends in the media spew will be far beyond anything Donald Trump can dish out. If they can’t fight Trump they are not going to win in prime time.
2) They don’t have core convictions and therefore aren’t able to passionately articulate a viable vision for the country. Candidates who repeat what political consultants and pollsters tell them to say don’t have the intellect, self confidence, and conviction to be successful in the job. We don’t need another George W. Bush who spent his last four years in office being slapped around daily by Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Wasserman-Shultz. If Bush had real conviction and passion he’d have fought the good fight. Instead he stood around with the deer in the headlights look. When you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there. He took us directly to the door of hell.

In 2016 people are looking for a candidate with the desire to take on the real problems facing America. From what I’ve seen Trump is prepared to take on immigration, trade, national defense and the deficit. The rest of them, with the possible exception of Cruz, are still poll testing their messages. The political consultant focus group tested campaign is not going to be the road to victory for the GOP nominee in 2016. Trump is showing the way. In fact, didn’t he fire his political consultant?

Nothing about the US seems to make sense any longer ... a felon in the WH, sure why not ... first female President and more free stuff for all ... laws and freedom are for losers and other conservatives.

Thunder thighs forward march!

and so one of OUR TEAM throws rocks at it. What model of government is Trump going to use?

Trump would use big government for things like massive infrastructure projects - you know that stuff conservatives used to oppose when Obama did it but now is suddenly okay that Trump blathers on about it.

Apparently he has also found a POTUS right to force companies to stay in the US, another item that conservatives would have once blasted liberals with as marxist crap, but now that Trump says these things they approve.

It's really not Trump I'm particularly disappointed in, it's all these supposed conservatives suddenly buying into populist protectionist big government trash. It is amazing how one cult of personality that people think they can identify with can change long held opinion almost overnight. Also saddening is the fact that one assumes learned conservatives wouldn't be so prone to buy into these cult of personality type populists - but it would appear our side is just as susceptible as the the left.

Under Gov. Scott Walker, Wisconsin "projected a $1 billion (budget) surplus and it turns out to be a deficit of $2.2 billion."

PolitiFact says,

By law, Wisconsin’s two-year budgets must be balanced -- revenue equalling expenditures.

So, unlike the federal government, Wisconsin can never run an actual budget deficit by borrowing money that piles up as debt.

Do you support Trump’s massive new infrastructure spending idea? Did you support it when Obama proposed the same? Do you think the President has the sudden right to order US companies not to leave? Did you support Trump’s proposed tax increase that would have been the biggest in human history? Do you think single payer socialist health care works “great” in Canada and “really terrific” in Scotland?

I got bad news for you, Trump won’t be the nominee. When forced to give an actual speech it is awful and eventually people are going to catch on and his shtick will fade. In time enough people will recognize a populist protectionist for what he is and figure out Trump is not a conservative.

Enjoy the ride for a few more weeks or months, but it isn’t going to end well for you Trumpsters. Hopefully many of you will go through a period of self reflection once this nonsense fades and realize how easily you were taken in by a self promoting con man.

Its a sad state of our politics. Conservatives so hungry for leadership that they become oblivious to the direction leadership may be going.

I agree. I identified RIghtward Ho as a troll — or at the very least, an Establishment Republican — a lonnnnng time ago. I haven’t focused on him because he’s not totally objectionable.
