None of these can happen from the legislature unless some Pubbies cave since they require a 2/3 vote. I hope they do not cave. This is the only time they matter otherwise the RATS just ignore them. If they don't pass this will force the unions and other government parasites to spend political $$ to pay for the signature campaigns.

Regarding the property tax proposal, liberals have been upset that businesses have benefitted from Proposition 13, the property tax law setting property taxes at 1% of assessed values , and limiting annual increases in property taxes.

The liberal view has been that businesses “should” pay more. Honestly the property tax limitn is one of the few tax benefits California businesses have. Take that away, and many more businesses will have even more incentive to shut down or move out of state.

Most states are trying to incentivize businesses with lower taxes. Here in California we are trying to send them to other states.

You forgot some:

1. Give the illegal mexicans your money tax.

2: The subsidize illegal alien employers tax.

3: The finance the democrat/republican re-election campaigns by buying the illegals votes tax.

The list just goes on and on.

The sewer pack of America, the California communists that are running the State. They have destroyed this beautiful place and not much left. Might as well give it back to Mexico and let them hang the damn Democrats.

Sorry to spoil your fun getting rid of the idiot DemocRATS who live in CA, but in the beautiful city of San Diego, there resides some of our military’s best and brightest .. and we cannot afford to lose them.

The “O” has already taken our Aircraft Carrier “Ronald Reagan” off to Japan - don’t know how long. I bet “O” couldn’t wait to do that.

As Ronald Reagan said:

BUSINESSES DO NOT PAY TAXES!!!!!!

The consumer pays those taxes in the price of doing business with that company.

That simple fact is totally ignored by Democrats.

Doesn’t Cali have a very large number of retired “public servants” making > $100,000/yr pension?

I’ll support the cigarette tax.

The other taxes are odious. At least the cigarette tax reduces demand.

So what happens if, let’s say, California has estimated cigarette tax revenue at $2.0B after the increase and everyone stops buying cigarettes in California. You think they’re going to cut their spending by $2.0B?

Instead of celebrating a potential decrease in demand, you might be better served by considering the consequences and be thankful that some of the tax revenue comes from cigarettes.

That's a win. Less children will become addicts. Less people will die prematurely. Less people drowning in their own fluids while they gasp for air.

Thanks for asking.

The programs that the liberals set up will never go away, the cry it’s for the children that all the idiots bought from meathead reiner will continue to be cried and as usual the children will never see the benefit of this boondoggle, only the elite. So no matter how many people stop smoking the demand for dollars will continue and then who will we demonize more, the drinkers? soda pop, candy, fast food? Count me out of the gimme dat crowd.
