Yes, the names of the two countries are very close in spelling. Slovenia has also had Moslem news the past year or so after finally agreeing to allow construction of their first mosque.

Islam has been at war with everyone else since 622 A.D.
By 732 they had conquered all of North Africa and Spain and were stopped from taking France by Charles Martel at Tours, France. They were stopped from taking Europe many times from that time forward.
Eastern Europe is simply refusing to commit suicide, unlike the West.
I don’t think the Mongols attacked Slovakia. They went through Moravia on their way from Poland to Hungary. I think that any Asian genetic elements among Slovaks are probably from the Avars.

Christian hardworking stock. There are some Protestant Slovaks, as well. Mainly Lutherans, I believe. :-)
