Donald Trump’s Iowa co-chair calls his immigration plan ‘a big mistake’

Donald Trump may be the spinning top that won’t fall down, but his Iowa co-chair is cringing at some of his recent statements.

“On illegal immigration, he wants to gather up the families and ship them out? That was a boondoggle. The caucusgoers are like, ‘What?’ That was a big mistake,” Richard Thornton told The Des Moines Register.

But Thorton still thinks the Republican candidate can plow forward, but he is going to have to expand his policy issues to do so.

He told the Register Trump needs to focus on the economy, bringing back jobs from overseas and term limits.

So far, Trump has only detailed one policy proposal: His controversial immigration plan.

At his first town hall in New Hampshire Wednesday, Trump was asked about his other campaign ideas.

The business mogul promised “wonderful” policies in the future, but cautioned against laying too much out ahead of time.

Des Moines Register and Trump have a little feud going on.

The air is leaking out of the Trump balloon.

That was supposed to happen last week and the week before.

In my opinion, Trump can simply brush this off. Kep the co-chair, and simply state that he is entitled to his opinion, but the plan is the plan.

The air is leaking out of the Trump balloon.

Wrong again (as usual)

"Donald Trump will take over Ladd-Peebles Stadium, usually home to high school football games on Friday nights, not presidential pep rallies. Trump's campaign shifted from a smaller venue to the stadium after seeing big demand for tickets; it expects 35,000 to attend.

Just the other day, a friend pointed out that it seems Trump never puts three sentences together on a single subject. He jumps from one topic to the next, "unafraid to say what everyone is thinking," etc.

Now, he "details" one policy proposal--his immigration plan--and his co-chair says it was a big mistake?!

You just can't make this stuff up!

(... unless you're Politico or The Des Moines Register ...)

He has no substance, and his total adherence to immigration is wearing thin. He needs a new horn to blow.

Maybe you should take your own advice.

No but he is really good at putting three or more subjects into a single sentence.

I think it is safe to assume that every Republican attacking Trump is establishment until proven otherwise.

Its all gone now.

All he has to talk about is the illegals. A president has to understand the whole picture, but he doesn’t even think there is any other picture.

People have moved beyond that and are expecting substance, but apparently there is none there.

You’re thinking of King County, which is most of the population, but the rest of the state is fairly conservative.

Count on it!
