An attorney for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl said Thursday recent comments made by Donald Trump threaten his client's right to a fair trial, after the presidential candidate called Bergdahl a "dirty, rotten traitor."
At a town hall in New Hampshire on Wednesday, Trump referred to Bergdahl as a "dirty, rotten traitor" and appeared to pantomime his execution while criticizing the soldier's release as part of a prisoner exchange with the Taliban.
Attorney Eugene R. Fidell said in a statement that his client was unable to speak out in his own defense because he is facing a preliminary hearing in the military justice system.
"Nor, as a practical matter, is he [Bergdahl] in a position, for the moment, to bring the defamation lawsuit Mr. Trump richly deserves," Fidell said in the statement.

Anyone who knows the facts knows he’s a “dirty, rotten traitor”.
So he wants to add “money grubbing thief-by-lawsuit-bum” to the list?
Well...hew is a dirty rotten traitor who should have been hung by the neck. Several other soldiers died trying to get this traitor back. Sick.
And even if he is charged and convicted of treason.....and handed a blindfold and cigarette, Obama would issue a pardon at the last minute.
He could even issue him a pardon today, if he had the guts.

I don’t see a problem here. The truth is always an affirmative defense in these sorts of defamation cases.
Since when can dirty, rotten traitors afford attorneys?
And besides. All it takes is for one Federal Judge to say that Trump can!
Then bergy should be brought up for treason and hanged along with his lawyer. 4 good souls gave thier lives for this piece of human trash

But, just as soon as Obama grants him a pardon you can bet he'll file. It's only a matter of time.

And even if the dirty rotten traitor did sue, it would be immediately tossed out of court, for several reasons.
I hope he does file, and gets the judicial slapdown he deserves. (though obviously hope he's not pardoned...)
Well do it Bergdahl lawyer. Trump likely welcomes it.

Fair trial? Will that improve his ability to outrun an executioner’s bullet or a hangman’s noose. Bergdalh should be enjoying his last days, negotiating method of execution for being a traitor.
Men died looking for the traitorous scumbag. In WW2 the penalty for desertion was death by firing squad but usually they ended up serving life. Eddie Slovik was shot. In the Civil War they didn’t beat around the bush with deserters. Over 500 soldiers were shot or hanged.
