At this point in the GOP primary race, with several months of Donald Trump constantly speaking his mind sans filter, can we really, honestly say that anything coming out of his mouth is shocking or surprising?
You wouldnt think so, but yet somehow, The Donald finds a way to still maintain political shock jock status with his comments.
During an interview with CNN, anchor Chris Cuomo asked Trump how he would respond to Pope Francis saying capitalism is toxic.
Heres how the real estate mogul responded.
From TheBlaze:
When CNN host Chris Cuomo ssked GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump how he would respond to Pope Francis claim that capitalism can be toxic, the Republican frontrunner said he would scare him.
Id say, ISIS wants to get you. You know that ISIS wants to go in and take over the Vatican? You have heard that, Trump said. You know, thats a dream of theirs, to go into Italy.
He talks to you about capitalism and you scare the pope? Cuomo asked.
Im gonna have to scare the Pope because its the only thing. The Pope, I hope, can only be scared by God. But the truth is you know, if you look at whats going on they better hope that capitalism works, because its the only thing we have right now. And its a great thing when it works properly, Trump added.

The Trumpmeister he has one of those names you can turn into a thousand different words finished by saying he liked the pope and thought seemed like a pretty good guy.
I have to say, despite not being a card carrying member of the Trump fan club, I do like how he stuck up for capitalism, because it truly is a great thing.
We hear non-stop this day and age about making war on poverty, but unfortunately, most of the folks championing this noble cause have the absolute worst solutions to fix the problem.
In other words, more government.
Capitalism and the free market have lifted more people out of poverty than any other system attempted by mankind, and Im living proof of that!
Less government regulation in the free market creates more opportunities for folks to start businesses or expand existing companies and employ more workers.
Hopefully the Popes views on capitalism will evolve as the political class likes to say, and hell see this is the way to truly create wealth and end poverty.
I see nothing “shocking” about these comments.
Nope. And somebody better scare this idiot because he is leading millions of Christians into bondage and murder if he keeps this up.
More like snoring
Not scary at all. If the pope is an idiot about capitalism and ISIS then someone needs to school him.
That gave me a mental image that made me laugh.
Boo!
Ahhhhh!
Sounds like capitalism is God. If so, how would one explain Trump?
Uh oh, this will sink Trump’s campai... Never mind.
More like marxism is satanic cult worship which the Pope is deeply involved.
Pray America is waking
Most educated Catholics realize that although all popes are due respect and obedience about faith and morals , when this pope speaks thusly about economic he cannot be and is not speaking infallibly. Catholics are free to respectfully disagree with him.
Think history shows that a reasonably regulated free market is a winning economic system for the most people. A corporate government cabal increasing profits, lining the pockets of shareholders, politicians and CEOs and impovershing millions as we now have is an abomination and I hope Trump supports a reasonable approach.
More like capitalism is the best system in terms of keeping one’s freedom to worship God in the manner one sees fit.
huh?
AMEN.
BTW, while I'm still on Cruz control and just sent him another donation today, but I'm loving watching the media piss in their collective depends over the trumpster {rhymes with dumpster}.
I could vote for a trump/Cruz ticket.
Since the current Pope seems to support socialism, I find nothing wrong in what Trump said.
I too am a fan of Cruz except vigorously against his willingness to let more foreign workers in legally and his position on trade.. I respect his smarts and think he must be beholden to some corporate interests to act so dumb about these issues.
May Trump and Sessions can help him there.
The Donald is just telling the Truth.
Telling the Truth has become a revolutionary act on the old media.
I do - the Pope calling capitalism toxic.
On his web site, in a column entitled "Welcome to America, Pope Francis," Novak writes:
"Among my own favorite comments of a pope visiting the U.S. is that of John Paul II on the occasion of his visit to that great baseball stadium of the Baltimore Orioles, Camden Yards, in October 1995. There the pope reminded Americans of President Abraham Lincolns deeply troubling question at Gettysburg in 1863: whether a nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal can long endure. The pope worried that the Biblical wisdom which played so large a part in the founding of America might be excluded from public moral debate. He further reminded us that every generation of Americans needs to know that freedom consists not in doing what we would like, but in having the right to do what we ought.
Further, the pope encouraged Catholic parents and his brother bishops to guard the truth, especially in view of the challenges posed by a materialistic culture and by a permissive mentality that reduces freedom to license. He pictured Christian life in the United States as a constant intergenerational battle in which both the liberty and the liveliness of conscience are in danger of perishing.
Above all, St. John Paul the Great worried that Americans would forget the Biblical wisdom which played such a formative part in the founding of your country. And he asked searchingly, Would not doing so mean that Americas founding documents no longer have any defining content, but are only the formal dressing of changing opinion? Relativism, the pope knew, would totally undermine Americas founding ideas.
Pope Francis need not worry about criticizing Americans too severely. Any taxi driver in New York City will blame the country far more than the pope can imagine. Americans are constantly criticizing one another. We have schemes of perfection dancing in our heads, to which we want others to conform. That is what it means to be born within a Puritan heritage. Even our libertines chastise one another for not being libertine enough.
One thing I wish Pope Francis would not do, though, is repeat some of the sweeping rhetorical comments he has made until now. In the light of my own experience, some of these claims are simply not valid. For example, he has said more than once that the poor never get richer. But virtually all Americans come from families who began life poor, but under the challenges of a free and responsible society, ceased being poor after at most two generations. That is true of my own family. It is true of virtually every other family I know."
The Vatican is our Jerusalem.
I hope this Pope does not screw it up.
Gone are the days when the Pope could simply walk across the bridge to the defensive castle next door to the Vatican.
A few RPG rounds will take care of that.
Maybe. When would you say capitalism started?
