It's the message, not the messenger: Why Trump leads
8/18/15 | me

When Fox News, GOPe or any garden variety entity/person/party, goes after Trump, they are attacking the MESSAGE, not the messenger. We who like what Trump is saying (and I'm a Cruz girl)are under attack by all the voices out there that claim we shouldn't be listening to him. This includes Glenn Beck and his team. When they attack the messenger, they're really attacking the message and when they attack the message they're attacking us, those that believe in the message. This is why every single candidate that has attacked Trump has swirled down the drain. The harder they swing at him the worse it gets for THEM. Graham, Paul, Perry, Bush...sucking wind.

I know Trump has more liberal than conservative tendancies. I would bet most people that like Trump's message know the same thing. But we're dying for someone with balls to stand up and scream at the top of their lungs the things we think, feel and believe.

There's a scripture in the New Testament where men come and complain to Paul(?) that certain other men are claiming the name of Jesus and they're not followers. Paul puts the first group of men in their place by stating that whoever claims the name of Jesus is good by him, they're getting the news out!

This is the same concept: let Trump do our bidding by getting the word out. As conservatives, don't we ALL want the border fully protected? Let him help fight the fight for us.

If that message was not being delivered by this messenger, few people would have heard it.

I don’t think I agree with this.

Trump is for the things he should be. Trump is against the things he should be against.

Trump appears to be the only one.

Conservatism is a way of life. It is successful by track record. It is common sense.

It can withstand a non conservative getting the message out

Same reason conservatives can watch liberal speak while liberals cannot take listening to conservatives

I would mostly agree, it is the message not the messenger BUT...

There is another cliche that applies: "How you say something is just as important as what you say." The unapologetic confident forceful method comes into play. Many conservatives say similar words, but in more polished unoffensive ways. It seems many people are looking for a bold fighter.

The message also has to be said by someone that has the attention of the national media. Others can have a similar message, but will not get the headlines every time they speak.

I agree the message is the largest part. The message shows the difference between Trump and Yeb, but there are other aspects to it as well.

I am a Cruz guy, but I am enjoying watching Trump getting his message out.

Disagree.

Trump not only is saying these things that need to be said, he has the balls to stick with them and the money to stay in the race the distance.

Other candidates (Rubio comes to mind) have been co-opted by the party elites because they lack the money to run nationally without being bought and paid for.

Cruz is my first choice. I don’t think the party elites (who want Jeb obviously) are going to let Cruz be the nominee.

So I’m voting for Trump.

We need to destroy the Republican party (the Uni-party RINOs) and rebuild it.

Trump can do that.

That’s ridiculous. Any other messenger would have cowered and apologized 100x over by now. OF COURSE the messenger matters.

Trump is a moderate but not a Republican moderate, there’s a difference. And he’s the kind of moderate that really exists, not the kind of moderate Washington likes to pretend exists.

amen. It is true that it is also how the message is delivered and because trump is not beholden to the financial forces he could not care less about his delivery or words.

Ultimately I think Trump will flame out but I do hope it’s in such a way that lays open the path for Cruz to cross the finish line as I believe Cruz has that same boldness. Just not the brashness :)

Trump reminds me of how I get when my kids are deaf to my requests and I’ve asked 100 times in a calm/collected voice and then finally I lose it and they suddenly fall in line and listen :) he’s forcing people to listen and it seems that’s what it takes sometimes. Like a hard slap in the face; suddenly you’re all ears.

If a democrat wins an office, Republicans are still around.
If a republican wins an office, Democrats are still around.

But if an outsider with a goal of reducing the size of government wins wins an office, they’re both out of jobs.

Ineffectiveness doesn’t show when everyone else in view is also ineffective. It just looks like “normal”. When a guy like Trump says “Caroline Kennedy is our Ambassador to Japan. What are her qualifications? None. When I’m President, I talked to Carl Icaan (sp) and he will take over our negotiations with China and Japan. He’ll get things done, get us better deals” that’s a tremendous statement. It’s a warning shot across the entire government’s bow - expectations are being raised. You will not be able to hide anymore.

Among other reasons, that’s why they hate Trump.

Exactly, I agree with what Trump says but he gathers lots of recognition that the others don’t have.

my point is that people are telling us to not listen to trump because he’s a bad messenger but really they’re attacking the message.

I’ll be careful voting for a millionaire promoting H1-B visas, that takes away from American jobs.

I’m a Cruz guy. I like what Trump is exposing.

If your guy (and/or mine) can’t beat Trump, that’s the fault of your guy or mine.
