After more than a year of treating their most passionate voters like they dont matter at all, the Republican Party is no longer even trying to hide its disdain for conservatives.
The surprise success of Donald Trump has thrown the GOP into disarray, ruining their carefully conceived plans of sending Jeb Bush to the general election. And instead of taking a step back, assessing the situation, and letting the voters tell them what they want, the party is desperate to regain control of the election.
You do not benefit by trying to draft behind Donald Trump and hope that he collapses and his low-information supporters run into your arms, Rick Wilson, a top Republican strategist, said on CNN this week. This is a guy who is increasingly leading a fraction of the conservative base into a very dangerous cul-de-sac. He is promising things that he can never deliver. And it is time for Jeb Bush and other folks to start posting up and really comparing and contrasting Donald Trumps rhetoric with the reality.
This is how GOP insiders are beginning to talk about the base. Its not enough now that they are attacking Donald Trump; they are now turning that venom onto his supporters. They talk about how Trumps numbers have peaked, how he cant win the nomination with only 20 percent of the vote. What they fail to understand is that no other candidate can succeed without that 20 percent.
If the GOP is dead set against throwing their support behind Trump, theyd better figure out a way to lure his voters back to one of their favored candidates. Insulting them calling them low-information supporters is not the way to go about it. Especially when theres no indication that the label fits.
There is a tremendous opportunity here for Republicans, and they are letting it sail right past them. Trump has energized a portion of the base that hasnt been this excited in a long time. Why would you fight that? Why, unless his message is so wildly off-brand that he doesnt fit into the party? But if thats true, then Republicans no longer serve the needs of conservative Americans.
You can throw a thousand criticisms at Trump and still have room for more. Hes far from the perfect candidate. But his message resonates for a reason. Conservatives arent desperate for a reality TV candidate; theyre desperate for someone who is as fed up with the BS as they are. And, as his campaign has exposed, that BS is coming from the Republican Party as much as it is Obama and Clinton. -
I love the way Wilson says we are being led into a cul-de-sac.
Like we haven’t already figured out that the DC Cartel has led our entire country into a dangerous cul-de-sac already.
FURW and FU,GOP-E.
Trump is making sense and an astute lady called Rush to make the point that we have had over 200 years to understand what works and what doesn't. This all proves that the beltway denizens live in their own reality and Trump has made that obvious to anyone who cares to watch!

Lashing out ?
Or ? Is it more like a diesel engine running away ?
( a run away diesel engine is when the engine is running on it’s own engine liberation oil, from wear, or the turbo is leaking, no way to stop it except cut off the airffow )
NO DONATIONS OR FUNDS TO THE GOPe !
Donate directly to your canidates of choice.
Money talks, BS walks, and GOPe balks.
Seems like Trump did just fine delivering helicopter rides to the kiddies at the Iowa State Fair.
And he is just getting started.
If they install or coranate Jeb Bush, I’ll stay home, I love my country, but will have to rest in trusting God.
God will have to fix this mess.
He is not 'owned' by anyone so speaking his mind is refreshing, especially since it is what a LOT of people are thinking on both sides of the aisle.
One thing for sure, any debate that will be one on one is going to be a night to remember.
The GOPe is trying to keep the base from taking over the plan to put Jeb in place and keep up the facade of 'by the people'.
Ohhhhhhhhhh hell no
It may confuse you; but I’m not the least bit confused. There’s only one person in that whole gaggle of candidates who can meet the guts, nerve, chops, finances and gonads to do what needs to be done. Donald J. Trump.
It’s like reaching your deer stand, setting your rifle down and raising your binoculars to your eyes; and seeing before you, one doe, several four points ( eastern U.S. count), one 6 point that looks pretty good, several spike bucks, and one astounding 10 point with a neck like a Brahma bull. The rest all fade from view and you only see the monarch.
Very few metaphors are perfect. And I have a lot of respect for the 6 point, too, who represents Ted Cruz. My stance is, that after Ted serves 4 or 8 years as Trump’s Veep, he will mature into a fine 10 pointer himself; maybe even a 12.
We trumpites are not confused. If YOU are confused, it might possibly be caused by having your head stuck someplace where it should never be. WADR.
Jesus Christ came to save the “ vulgar “ unwashed masses.
George Will ? Put that in your pipe and smoke it, then shove it.
Or Jerry Lewis’s comedy : Bell Boy
Oh, it'll stop eventually. It'll either run till seizes up from lack of lubrication or begins to suck enough oil for the cylinders to get hydro locked and starts breaking pistons. Then it likely won't run no mo', ever again.
“It’s sad to watch the GOP commit Harikiri.”
I don’t know if I would use the word “Hara-kiri” to describe the pending suicide of the Republican Party. If my understanding of Japanese culture is correct, hara-kiri is an ritual suicide by someone who believes he has done something to dishonor his family or station.
To associate Republicans with anything honorable is just wrong.
I think they really don’t care if they lose to the democrats.
If Trump gets the nomination they will still attack him.
I haven’t listened to Michael Medved in 6 weeks. I listened to him yesterday for the first time and he was shilling against Trump as I expected. He is clearly part of GOPe. He insults my intelligence.
One by one, the veil is lifted.
Yes, all of that is surely true, but until it gets to that point, there is no way to stop a runaway diesel engine except cutting off the airflow ( if your lucky ).
