GOP Openly Lashing Out at Base
Patriot News Daily ^ | 8/16/2015 | Staff

Posted on 08/18/2015 4:30:56 AM PDT by HomerBohn

After more than a year of treating their most passionate voters like they don’t matter at all, the Republican Party is no longer even trying to hide its disdain for conservatives.

The surprise success of Donald Trump has thrown the GOP into disarray, ruining their carefully conceived plans of sending Jeb Bush to the general election. And instead of taking a step back, assessing the situation, and letting the voters tell them what they want, the party is desperate to regain control of the election.

“You do not benefit by trying to draft behind Donald Trump and hope that he collapses and his low-information supporters run into your arms,” Rick Wilson, a top Republican strategist, said on CNN this week. “This is a guy who is increasingly leading a fraction of the conservative base into a very dangerous cul-de-sac. He is promising things that he can never deliver. And it is time for Jeb Bush and other folks to start posting up and really comparing and contrasting Donald Trump’s rhetoric with the reality.”

This is how GOP insiders are beginning to talk about the base. It’s not enough now that they are attacking Donald Trump; they are now turning that venom onto his supporters. They talk about how Trump’s numbers have peaked, how he can’t win the nomination with only 20 percent of the vote. What they fail to understand is that no other candidate can succeed without that 20 percent.

If the GOP is dead set against throwing their support behind Trump, they’d better figure out a way to lure his voters back to one of their favored candidates. Insulting them – calling them “low-information supporters” – is not the way to go about it. Especially when there’s no indication that the label fits.

There is a tremendous opportunity here for Republicans, and they are letting it sail right past them. Trump has energized a portion of the base that hasn’t been this excited in a long time. Why would you fight that? Why, unless his message is so wildly off-brand that he doesn’t fit into the party? But if that’s true, then Republicans no longer serve the needs of conservative Americans.

You can throw a thousand criticisms at Trump and still have room for more. He’s far from the perfect candidate. But his message resonates for a reason. Conservatives aren’t desperate for a reality TV candidate; they’re desperate for someone who is as fed up with the BS as they are. And, as his campaign has exposed, that BS is coming from the Republican Party as much as it is Obama and Clinton. -

I left the GOP following the last Republican election victory after seeing that all of their promises to kill ObamaCare and to Generally stand up to the Thug in Chief. But they did the opposite.rolled over and played dead, while the country went to hell in a hurry.

The Republican Party is dead. They just don’t realize it.It is time for third party based on Conservative principals.

Cntl+Alt=Del is coming. It is inevitable. Trump may be delays it a bit but the GOPe is dead to me after 35 years of support. Screw them all. Especially Bitch and Boner the lying sacks of $hit that they are. Not one penny to the GOPe or a second of my time. I will work my ass off for Cruz or Optimus Prime(Trump) if he is the survivor.

“Gee, imagine Trump is promising things that he can’t deliver. How different from the rest of the party that is.”

“Can’t” as opposed to “never planned to”?

This election is all but over. If Trump is the nominee, he loses by a lot. If he's not the nominee he goes 3rd party and Democrats win due to the split in Republican votes. Sure, it's gonna be a helluva party from now to election day, but we are all going to wake up with a massive hangover.

Okay then. Bring on the inevitable failure (according to you).

We NEED a National spleen-venting and right now!

Nevada allows you to vote “None of the Above”. It should be mandatory in every state.

Uniparty paradox? It’s impo$$ible for leadership to arise from the ce$$pool called CONgre$$. A $lim chance coming from the $tate$. The best chance from neither uniparty entrenched apparatU$.

HOORAY Trump

“The Dems are in a PANIC mode right now, with growing concerns about “server gate” and Hillary, and the Dems are looking at Bernie and a few other alternates.”

The dems look pathetic. After running Obama and his vaunted youth and inexperience to the logical end, collapse, they are running geezers like Hillary, Sanders and possibly Biden who rounds out a field of old ideas, old attitudes and just old age.

I’m waiting for a reprise of media propagandized hippie musicals on Broadway and tv shows from the 60’s to flog the “new, hipper” gaffers.

After all, nothing says election year like propaganda sitcoms.

The GOP does not like that fighting thing. They would rather just get along and lose.

Pray America is waking

IMO his partnership with Cruz is a done deal (fingers crossed) and Cruz is going to know all the constitutional and legal lockpicks to making major changes...

TRUMP: “I’LL DO THIS!” *whispers* So Ted, how’re we going to do this?” ;)

Maybe the GOPe can run McCain again. That will truly be a watershed event in American politics. A veritable restaurant menu of column A and column B resulting in the same destructive policies of the past decades predicated on the belief of the Republicrats and Democans that people are too stupid to care.

This is the God’s Truth. I have to wonder, though, if the GOPe is just intentionally setting up to lose- again. They know Jeb won’t beat any democrat candidate. Sarah Palin was the only viable one on any ticket for the last 8 years & that surprised them.
Look what they did to her.

It will be beyond tragic if Trump looks like he can win & they screw us out of it.
I hope America doesn’t stand down in that case.

“He (DT) is promising things that he can never deliver.”

Yes, maybe he is. But there’s a difference between making promises that you intend to deliver but just can’t get done even after putting all your effort into it, and what this last batch of Republicans did in the last election—which was lie to the voters to get themselves elected but having no intention on trying to do what they promised.

If anything proves that there is only one party, this is it. Remocrats and Democrats are solidly united in favor of Big Government and against Conservatives.
