For the first time ever, two women have successfully completed the Army's elite Ranger school, one of the toughest combat training courses in the world, the Army said Monday.

The female soldiers weren't identified beyond being described as West Point-trained officers. They were among 96 soldiers who will graduate Friday at Fort Benning, Georgia, with the coveted Ranger tab, the Army said.

(snip)

Unlike the 94 men who will graduate Friday, the two women won't be allowed to apply to join the join the 75th Ranger Regiment, the elite Special Operations force.

It remains closed to women.

If they can pass the test (and the test hasn’t been made easier just so they can pass) Then I say let them in.

It looks like the standards were the same for everyone. From the article ...

To earn the Ranger tab, applicants must be able to complete 49 push-ups, 59 sit-ups, a five-mile run in 40 minutes, six chin-ups, a swimming test, a land navigation test, a 12-mile foot march in three hours, several obstacle courses, four days of military mountaineering, three parachute jumps, four air assaults on helicopters, multiple rubber boat movements and 27 days of mock combat patrols.

I’m 64 years old. I do 50 pushups a night. When I was a grunt I could do many more. 49 pushups and 6 pullups seems a bit on the light side fro Ranger school.

Yeah, I think so, too. I wonder if SEALs have such low requirements.

One was a blonde.

Down at Eglin she shotgunned a couple dozen alligators,
flipping each gator over, spitting in disgust:

“Damn! None of ‘em are wearing shoes.”

Same things were said of female pilots and other career fields only to find they were given chances, help, and sometimes flat out passed even after failing.

With all the butch chicks out there that could body-slam the average man and deliver a kill blow to the throat, it was only a matter of time.

You do realize women will do more than that if they found out Manolo Blahnik’s had a 50% shoe sale.

I was curious so I looked it up. In basic if you do 49 in 2 minutes you get 70 points which is basically a C-. Less than average. Weird that gets you through Ranger School. I know 75 got me a 24 hour pass in Basic which led to a 10 mile run puking my guts out because I got back 5 minutes late. Was never late again. Lol.

Most soldiers who make it through Ranger School never serve with a Ranger Battalion. Most graduates of Ranger School say it’s great for learning small group leadership and testing your endurance limits (food and sleep deprivation), but that it’s otherwise a bit overrated. This is what I’ve been told.

“Pass”. I could probably “pass” that test—and I’m a couch potato. I’m female, and that is evidently enough for me to be able do all the things that men can do physically. /s
