Pat Buchanan stands up for Obama against that mean Netanyahu
Jihad Watch ^ | 8/15/15 | Robert Spencer

Posted on 08/15/2015 10:06:19 PM PDT by Nachum

Pat Buchanan has for years been such a virulent opponent of Israel that he has frequently been accused of anti-Semitism, and this column condemning Benjamin Netanyahu for supposedly interfering in America’s internal affairs by opposing the Iran deal is not going to erase that impression. The paleocon Right hates Israel with such abiding passion that it is increasingly self-contradictory: for a small government advocate like Buchanan defending Barack Obama and tacitly supporting a deal that threatens not just Israel, but the U.S. as well, manifests a moral myopia of catastrophic immensity.

But it’s no surprise. I’ve noted before how the paleocons over at Buchanan’s American Conservative have embraced the hard Left’s invention of “Islamophobia” and even come out in favor of submitting to violent intimidation and kowtowing to the foes of the freedom of speech. If they’re the opposite end of the political spectrum from the hard Left, the ends are meeting.

And now Pat Buchanan pretends that Barack Obama, who has shown himself again and again to have the attitude and assumptions and sensibilities of a Marxist internationalist, is an old-school President like Truman or Ike who only makes deals with other nations with America’s best interests at heart. That’s some serious hatred of Israel, to make Pat Buchanan pick up the pom-poms for a far-Left statist. But lines are being redrawn all over the place these days.

Pat Buchanan is some kind of stooge who has been on the left wing payroll for a long time, and his job is to discredit whatever conservatives there may be who happen to agree with some of his positions. Then he gradually disseminates ever more explicit pro-Nazi books and articles, making you look stupid if you ever agreed with him on anything.

Pat Buchanan is a self-absorbed hypocrite. He is full of sh*t on almost every subject he opines. To be blunt, he’s just an loudmouthed ass.

Gee, I wonder why he doesn’t say a word about obama trying to influence the Israeli election? I choose to ignore this Jew-hating person.

Why? B/C Pat is a “trady Catholic” - but he is not just any old flavor of traditional Catholic ... No, Pat is a member of the jooooo-hating conspiratorial wack-job sect who believe that Israel was behind 9/11 ... That the WTC was brought down by planted explosives, etc ... IOW, Buchanan is an irrational fruitcake.

Now, I too am a trady Catholic - but I diverge from these loons - they are just insane. They believe that the jooooos are behind the NWO, etc. They blame the jooooos for anything and everything that goes wrong in the world.

If you really want to get an understanding of how nuts these people are, then read the book ‘Synagog Rising’ - if you can get past the first chapter without tossing the hefty tome into the trashcan, then your a better man then I.

These twits think the Holicost was faked, or at least exaggerated. They believe the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion is an authentic treaties, rather than the proven plagiarism of a French play that mocked Napoleon.

You have no idea how batsh*t crazy these people are until you get on a discussion board with them.

Pat would embrace the Soviet Union today if it still existed and he thought it’d get him attention. He’s against empires, unless the empire belongs to an American adversary. He’s for small government, as long as it’s going to make America weak. He’s against abortion, as long as it doesn’t hurt Putin’s image. He’s blamed the Poles and Brits for World War II, and the Israelis for the mad mullahs of Iran’s threats to annihilate Israel, and the Americans for not letting butchers have their way. He’s very disturbed that Saddam lost his head, as if Saddam were a king and Pat a royalist. Poor Pat.

"I never understood why Buchanan........is so against Israel"

Its a foreign policy doctrine thingy. Buchanan subscribes to an isolationist foreign policy. Likewise with Taki. So if you read The American Conservative or Taki's magazine you will find that viewpoint. They are Paleo-Cons or Paleo-Populists

The other sub-group of Isolationists are the libertarian minded Isolationists like Ron and Rand Paul.

The foreign policy realists, such as James Baker or Brent Scowcroft, are also often called anti-semites. Another of the realists, Henry Kissinger, because he is Jew, is called a self loathing Jew. It was a major campaign issue in 2008 when Kissinger praised Obama's campaign pledge to negotiate with Iran, or Colin Powell, another Realist, backed Obama.

James Baker committed 3 sins against the Zionists: the speech he gave to AIPAC in 1989, he organized the Madrid Conference, and he served as co-chair of the Iraq Study Group. The Iraq Study Group was influential in getting 3 NeoCons fired from the Bush administration: Doug Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, and Rumsfeld. That was made worse by the fact that George Bush first offered Rumsfeld's SecDef job to James Baker, but Baker declined so Bush gave the job to Bob Gates, another Realist, who also served on the Iraq Study Group and had also worked for Jimmy Carter, who was eventually replaced by Leon Panetta, a democrat Realist who also served on the Iraq Study Group, who was replaced by Realist Chuck Hegel, an outspoken supporter of Iraq Study Group.

A couple of other Realists who got in big trouble were John Meareshimer and Steve Walt, for publishing a book entitled "The Israeli Lobby and US Foreign Policy".

A lot of this is the NeoCon republicans wanting to dominate the GOP's foreign policy position by marginalizing the Isolationists and Realists. When Jeb Bush met with James Baker a couple of months ago the NeoCons were outraged. Jeb Bush was trying to say that the NeoCons and Realists would have equal footing in his administration.

There is a similar situation in the democrat party. The Liberal Interventionist democrats(like Shumer and Menendez) tend to be stronger supporters of Israel than the Dem Realists(like Feinstein and Nelson) and the anti war dems.

If you look at foreign policy in broad strokes, under Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and GHW Bush, the Realists were the dominant foreign policy group. Under Bill Clinton, the Liberal Interventionists rose to power and under George Bush the NeoCons rose to power. Under Obama the Realists have been dominant.

Pat’s anti-Semitism is very, very ugly.

I’m glad it doesn’t represent modern conservatism at all.

PB represents a very traditional Roman Catholic animus against Jews to the point of nearly blind rage.

There are Jews who don’t even hold it against him much, as they cynically believe many more hold his views but just keep them more private, and such cynics don’t reject working with such people where practical.

Buchanan’s type used to be much more common, and probably still is - it’s just that FR makes a strong effort to keep them off this site.

Pat has a weird blind side to anything Jewish, and many of the posters denoted the origins of it and thank you for that lesson. I even read that when he was a kid Pat and his chums liked beating up Jewish kids, I don’t know it if is true. But the one that got me was when he was a proponent for John Demjanjuk. If my memory is correct, this guy was still a Nazi guard but he was from a different camp! WTH Pat, he still was a Nazi guard! With all Pat has to bring to the plate that is good this one blind side puts him in wackadoodle land. Sad actually, that the man that in many ways could be the elder statesmen of the Conservative Movement has this deal breaker within his gestalt.

I think part of Buchanan’s reason stems from his time in the Nixon administration when the liberal Jewish groups harassed Nixon so much despite the fact that Nixon saved Israel in the Yom Kippur war. And when he saw how much the Israeli lobby influenced congress ( Arab oil money changed that )

In any case he is knee jerk anti Israel

He’s an arch Catholic with Irish and German ancestry. Not a good mix in terms of being pro-Israel or philosemitic.

"Palaeocons" are pagans who worship ancestral, ethnic, and national totems. They hate the One Universal G-d with a passion, which is why they hate Jews and Israel above everything else.

They aren't stupid or "bigoted." They are evil.

Pat Buchanan wrote for years for Willis Carto’s Spotlight.

Willis Carto and his worldwide operation had no interest in “isolationism.”

His concentration was elsewhere.
