I was in the State Hospital for Crippled Children at Elizabethtown Pennsylvania from October 1953 through November 1955. (Long Dickensian story) I didn't have polio. Watched the kids with what was then known as Infantile Paralysis go through rehab. It was the rough equivalent of being broken on the rack. I wouldn't wish it on an elected Democrat official.
I’m sorry for your experience. I hope your life and the life of all those kids turned out happier. I so remember Helen Hayes’ beautiful daughter dying so young. I remember my dear friend’s hideous scars up and down her legs - all the muscles destroyed. My brother and I got the vaccine and I support vaccines in general.

Some, like me wanted my babies to slowly receive the vaccines for the dangerous killers, diphtheria, typhoid, tetanus, pertussis, pneumovax, polio.
But the secondary shots, not so much: measles, mumps rubella, chicken box. the sexually transmitted diseases.
And I want the freedom to choose. And did.
And slowly over two years vaccinated them with the important ones.
