Tom Steyer wants to know why the gas prices he jacked up are so high

Billionaire liberal activist Tom Steyer wants to be the next governor of California, at least according to west coast insiders. (Why on Earth anyone would want that job at this moment in history remains a mystery for the ages.) If you’re going to be the governor you’re going to have to investigate all sorts of things and solve the problems facing the state. One of these issues is the high cost of gasoline, some of the priciest in the nation. That’s got consumers seeing red and Steyer plans to get to the bottom of it. (LA Times)

I had family which worked at Shell in the Bay Area.
When CA mandated a gas formulation change, Shell was excited.
Shell was the only refinery on West Coast who could make it.
ie $$$

Tom Steyer is the kind of guy who craps his pants and waxes indignant at the smell whilst he demands that someone else clean up what isn’t his fault at someone else’s expense.

He’s going to replay the Pelosi strategy of ‘06. Blame the oil companies for making too much money, get elected on the promise to punish them, which will result in higher costs being passed on to the consumer, again.

Truth is this for real.
I used to be single and I used to have the time to spend lots of time researching, reading and also participating here on FR.
At a far later than normal age I got MARRIED for the first and only time. My wife is younger so we also have a 6 year old at this point.
I also have responsibility for a couple of serious things through work.
I am on the fly all the time. I most likely wrote dam instead of damn while getting coffee for my wife at Starbucks on my Iphone.
I wear contacts, so without glasses I have to try real hard to read anything much less try and see what I typed.

At home on the laptop it is much better.
The wife and 6 year old rarely like me to stay up when the young man goes to sleep, so often yours truly has to go to bed at 8 so the child can see dad and mom are also settling down for the night.
Now we may TRY and stay up, but far more than half the time we drop like crazy ourselves drained from our responsibilities of the day and our little 6 year old.
School work, karate, homework club, playing with the little man and so forth.

I've got over 50 years on my son, so being so busy and being the family guy and especially trying to type through my contact lenses...
Lets just say I've got issues. :-)

No, no way am I picking on you! I was just making idle chit chat with you and not criticizing you whatsoever! I hate “typing” or “texting” on my Droid as well. My 50 year old son forces me to do it because that’s the only way he likes to communicate on his smart phone. It seems kinda dumb to me. Lots of room for misunderstandings can arise. Same as here, but at least I can use a full keyboard on my MacBookPro.

My wife wants a Mac after having windows computers.
They are made well but being they do the same thing as the $400 laptops it seems hard to run out and get one.

I think my wife will run out and get one anyway though.

I have to keep a “Windows” computer since nearly all my business suppliers only use “Windows” compliant software. I still buy and maintain “Windows Office” stuff for my MacBookPro, however. But still find that some of the stuff my Insurers send me will only run on a “Windows” operating system.

I like the windows computers and they are a third of the price.

My MacBook was so drastically simplified that I was mystified for months by it after years of nothing but PC’s, but that’s probably because I was almost in my 70’s when I finally bought any Apple product.

I have an I-phone because my wife and others in the family have them and the face time thing works for me.

Apple and I-phones are about to take a major hit on sales because none of the American carriers are going to subsidize phones anymore.
So in the future you have to pay the larger fees without the phone being included along with a 20-36 month payment plan for the phone.

It is going to put a halt to some of the sales.

$3.20 or so for regular in the south SF Bay area. That’s down a bit from last week.
