Donald Trump is all but accusing a top Republican pollster of trying to shake him down.
After the presidential debate on Thursday night, Fox News featured a focus group conducted by Frank Luntz that utterly slammed Trump. On Monday, Trump told Business Insider that he thought he was panned by Luntz's group because he declined to hire Luntz's research firm.
"This has been going on, he's putting the arm on me all the time, and then he does these polls that are totally in violation of every other poll that was done," Trump said of Luntz.
Trump said post-debate polls that show he remains ahead of the GOP field prove the focus group was wrong. He further described Luntz, a regular contributor to Fox News and one of the country's best-known conservative consultants, as "unfair" and "terrible."
"I watch this guy do a really negative report on me, and the only reason he did it, in my opinion, is because I didn't want to hire him commercially," Trump said of Luntz. "I think it's disgusting ... I think he uses his power at Fox to maybe to get work."
In a phone call with Business Insider, Luntz vehemently denied Trump's accusation.
"You've got to understand that I don't care who wins and loses I only care that I'm accurate," Luntz said. "Even if I say things that candidates don't like, I don't expect them to take it personally. I don't expect them to launch World War III."

Hmmm, I typed thanks muchly and the word muchly turned into richly. Poltergeists.
LOL!
;O)
It stands to reason that if Trump applies enough pressure that Fox will soon find another polling service other than Luntz.
"MONEY talks... Bull$hit walks"
Luntz has quite being a pollster just as Megyn Kelly has quit being a journalist.
Both are interested in entertainment for the purpose of exposure and ratings. Ratings equal money.
Fox is making nice to Trump because they realize that Trump just might end up being Prez, lol. They are hedging their bets. And as Prez, Donald could have a long memory. Worry, worry, worry.
That is why Trump is well liked—He is a fighter. They thought, the Debate attacks, the Lutze Focus Group snub, Red State ban would end Trump—force him out of the race for good. They were wrong. It would have killed any other person—not Trump. Wrong attack plan to handle this man. Fox caved in—Red State proven false. watch now as Hillary implodes and the gang of 17 becomes the gang of 7. Sometimes you need a man like Trump like your need a good bowel movement—to clean things out and set things right. For too long we have been beat up by PC, “hurt feelings” and other claptrap. Go Trump!
LOL at your analogy .... and I agree! :-)
Hell, many do. They take the 11th commandment as Gospel.
IMO, it’s why Trump raised a few point for me...he was the ONLY one not to cow-tow the party line for the sake of the party-line (IE: If it’s a choice between Hitler and Stalin, I don’t back one or the other just because they have a (R) after their name).
Yeah, EVERY election is the ‘most important since the LAST election’...or dogs and cats sleeping together. Holding noses to pull levers has gotten exactly WHAT since the blow-in of ‘12?
I’m loving seeing the DEM and GOPe/RNC machine have a mental break-down. I think once, in a VERY long time, peoples eyes are starting to open!
Luntz seems to give people the results that he thinks they will like. Boy, he went all our after the debate. He had a ton of people who had been for Trump just before the debate, but then immediately lost all interest in him because of his performance. Luntz's "focus group" was designed to reinforce the efforts of the three moderators to DUMP TRUMP.
I just cannot get over how blatant they were. They just showed zero respect for the process or their audience.
Trump keeps pulling their pants down. They must really, really hate and fear him. I don’t trust any of the pollsters any more. Professionals involved in politics/media/entertainment/education to any degree have questionable ethics. There are no neutral parties. They are all in some-one’s hip pocket. So sad.
Figure a focus group will tell you a 50,000 foot view, but you need statistically accurate information to understand what is going on at ground level.
So, it’s usually the first step in the process to find out where you want to look. It might get general information correct, but you should not base money decisions on focus group info at all.
It’s pathetic that they can get away with this.
First
I don’t subscribe to the GOPe meme ...I think it is silly and mindless to affix such labels.
At the moment I like Dr Carson, Walker, Cruze ,and Carly
and I do not dislike anyone who is running. They all have strengths and weaknesses.
In short I will support whoever makes it through the primary and is the nominee (Trump included) that will be facing the Democrat nominee .....whoever that is.
If Trump runs third party ...I will be more convinced than ever that he is pond scum.
I would call this old school common sense....but if Trump floats your boat .....good luck...I think you will need it.
I also like Rush Limbaugh a lot and while I don’t agree with him about Trump
I greatly respect his opinion and am willing to some day be swayed ...there is a long way to go though
TY Aria.
