Is this the article you saw?

Gabriel Sherman - Donald Trump and Roger Ailes Make Up — for Now

From the article:

According to two high-level Fox sources, Ailes's diplomacy was the result of increasing concern inside Fox News that Trump could damage the network. Immediately following Thursday's debate, Fox was deluged with pro-Trump emails. The chatter on Twitter was equally in Trump’s favor. “In the beginning, virtually 100 percent of the emails were against Megyn Kelly,” one Fox source, who was briefed on the situation, told me. “Roger was not happy. Most of the Fox viewers were taking Trump’s side.”

Things got worse for Ailes over the weekend. In a phone conversation, Trump told Sean Hannity that “he was never doing Fox again,” according to one person with knowledge of the call. The anti-Kelly emails, and threat of a boycott by Trump, seem to have pushed Ailes to defuse the war. One Fox personality told me that Fox producers gave instructions to tell in-house talent not to bring up Trump’s controversial comments that Kelly had “blood coming out of her wherever" during the debate. According to one count, Fox only aired Trump’s comment once since Friday, while CNN mentioned it at least 50 times.

In recent days, Ailes got a glimpse of what a Trump-less Fox News would look like. On Sunday, Trump called in to the four other public-affairs shows; this morning he gave interviews to Today and Morning Joe. Inside Fox, this was alarming. “This thing with Megyn got way ahead of Roger and bigger than he must have thought,” one Fox personality said. “Roger wants this to blow over,” another source added. “He’s upset that conservatives are mad at Fox.” Online, Ailes also took flak. Both the Drudge Report and Breitbart News carried pro-Trump headlines.

Britt Hume is the managing editor so he absolutely positively had to be in on it. Could be that Murdock went around Ailes to Hume. Ailes is not an editor he hires fires and pays the bills. Plus I think Trump and Ailes get along well. Ailes has zero reason to go gunning for Trump. Trump has been a regular on Fox for years.

I think that you’re on to something with that and as Trump said this morning, he has since had a discussion with Ailes that ‘cleared the air’. Regardless, here are the main points I take away from all this:

1. It was the worst format I’ve ever seen for a ‘debate’…. In fact, the definition of debate doesn’t apply to what Fox put on the air. For the life of me, I don’t know why any Party would feel beholden to any network for hosting a debate…. The candidates and the Party should put their collective heads together and select the format and moderators and then go to all the networks to ‘shop it out to them’ to see who will carry it. Otherwise, it will always be a case of being beholden to someone who likely has an agenda that is to do you harm (since we know that all the networks are left-leaning).

2. A cardinal rule of journalism is that you NEVER inject yourself into the story…. the perfect ‘debate’ should be one that is so well run that the viewer walks away with a ton of valuable information that helps in making up one’s mind about the candidates and scarcely even knows who the moderators are because they were so invisible.

3. It’s fairly clear that the three Fox moderators went into the evening with an agenda and it was to knock Trump out. If this is a fact, no one should ever watch the three of them again and to go further, those within Fox who ‘were in on it’ should all have their employment terminated. If there are no firings, than this means that the ‘agenda’ does in fact go right to the top of the organization and should be a clear signal for viewers to never turn their dial to Fox again….. the same rationale for why I would never watch say NBC again.

4. While the vitriol here seems to be directed at Kelly, she was just the mouthpiece and the other moderators and their ‘handlers’ are just as guilty. With reference to points 2 and 3, the entire affair was unprofessional and Fox as a network jumped the shark…….a phrase that should not be used loosely as it means that they undertook an action that has precipitous results of a permanent decline.

5. However, with regards to point 4, if Trump had of been prepared for Kelly’s question (and Wallace’s later question about the 4 bankruptcies), he could have viewed them as softballs that he could slam out of the park. The fact that Trump wasn’t as prepared as he should be should not be conflated with the stupidity of the question or the agenda of the moderators.

6. Fox needs Trump far more than he needs them. Ailes recognized how bad the shark jumping was and immediately reached out to Trump…..damage control that probably cannot stop the bleeding. In a strange turn of events, it might not be even reaching too far to say that the shark jumping was so severe that Trump now controls the future of Fox.

I think that the interesting to watch will be the upcoming CNN ‘debate’…. Rest assured they are watching what went on with Fox very closely and although this goes against their nature, I’ll bet they are recognizing how pi$$ed off viewers are with Fox and will attempt to appeal to them accordingly.

Well, then. Someone with a brain will create a network to take Fox’s ratings from them.

Shakespeare, what a genius.

Shall never see so much, nor live so long.”

You Trump supporters are as thin-skinned as Trump. Kelly must have done something right because we’re still talking about the debate.

You GOPe zombies are really showing your true colors. Clearly you're threatened by someone who won't toe the same old surrender monkey party line.

“Murdoch’s message to blunt Trump’s rise in the polls came loud and clear over his social media and publishing outlets, and the Fox News debate moderators tried to destroy his candidacy in a single night by unleashing an all-out character assassination to discredit him.”

Yes. His publishing empire includes the UK DailyMail also, and the articles there are attempting to ramp up hysteria with lurid headliines like "Bloodgate", but the comments sections are reflecting a lot of support for Donald and contempt for Megyn and Fox from American commenters.

If The Donald doesn't stay the course and get elected, that could be his next project.

Remember Kelly’s big brother comments with respect to vaccines.

She is a NWO sell-out. I guess she has a room reserved in the bunker and a job as a call girl.

“Fear not, you will be a mega-star over at MSNBC. Why on that rumor alone Rachel Maddow has gotten so excited, he hid away his anatomically correct Me-Gun Kelley blow up doll in his closet. Oh, and the tools, adapters, accesserioes, and the edible underwear. I am not sure what the flavors of the undies he had were but, after your chat with Howard Stern, I’m guessing CHERRY isn’t one of them.”

You are a disgusting Trump troll using disgusting/filthy sexual connotations to trash a reporter - your trolling started at the end of July, just several days ago, when you joined FR to push your man Trump. There are rules on FR and you fail the language ones. I would zot you but I don’t own the zot machine.

If you listen to the people defending her it is mostly men who think she is hot. So at least those plunging necklines have bought her something.

She is hot. She is also a political hack on an ego trip. She is also loyal to her bosses. She does exactly what they tell her to do.

GO TED CRUZ!

“That smirk on Chris Wallace’s face indicated that he knew and they had this all planned out.”

“smirk” is a interpretive conclusion of one person, you. Others would have a different interpretation. I saw no smirk.

The three reporters met on occasions and every question was decided at those meetings. No questions were spontaneous.

You will see Trump explode again if CNN asks a question he doesn’t want to answer. It will happen as that is Trump’s way to attack others, has done it all his adult life.

Like the Nazis launching blitzkrieg at the Soviet Union in 1941 and failing to knock them out short of Moscow, I think Megan failed to knock out Trump and now her unprofessional and partisan grandstanding will end up her ratings going way down.

I can’t stand Trump but nobody else is shouting from the wilds against the abuses of the federal government and the decline of the country.

Like the USSR calling up a million reserves, Trump is mobilizing and Megan is probably privately regretting her unprofessional and partisan behavior as a.....debate moderator.

She still does not understand that as a moderator your job is to be objective and not a hack.

I think it is time we pushed hard to get her toppled at Fox and then hit Fox hard by moving to alternative sources of the news.

Make an example of her so that Fox gets the message that although Trump may not be our final choice for the nomination, they can’t simply JUST go for ratings and become a partisan tool of the Left.

“”Wow. I am simply amazed at the vitriol spewed at Kelly. Personally, I think it is way over the top.””

I have to agree with you. Are there that many people out there without lives?

Apparently "there are that many people out there" who are ready to revolt against the Alinsky tactics of both the Leninist Democrats and the Trotskyite GOPe, both groups being communist to the core, just differing slightly in their proposed methods and the redistribution of the spoils.

We The People are the enemies and targets of both groups.
