Trump Is No Friend of Free Market Health Care
American Spectator ^ | 8/10/2015 | David Catron

Posted on 08/10/2015 4:43:51 AM PDT by rootin tootin

Most of Donald Trump’s public statements include the rote declaration that Obamacare is a disaster. This is true, of course, but it doesn’t tell us anything new. It’s only when he starts elaborating on his objections that one gets a sense of what he believes, and he doesn’t talk like a friend of the free market. During last week’s Republican debate, for example, he was asked about his past praise of single-payer health care and replied, “As far as single-payer, it works in Canada, works incredibly well in Scotland.” This answer was both antithetical to free-market thinking and profoundly ignorant.

Let me type this very slowly so you will understand. Well, no you won’t, because you don’t want to....

The uniparty, the estabs, the Jurassic media, are all attacking Trump. No doubt. BUT...and here’s where I’ll slow down for your sake. There are people questioning Trump who are NOT part of the uniparty.....who are NOT establishment....who are NOT RINOs. There are people ragging on Trump who have more anti uniparty cred in their little toe than you have in your entire life and career.......

Only the mind numbed fan boy refuses to look past this.

Yes! But the traces of loyalty to a political party run really deep. We are in deep dodo and the GOP is lost.

So the issue for you is how you perceive me, and not whether there is a valid point about Trump being a bit big government socialist on health care.

Okay, so I live rent free in your noggin.

Tiny minds focus on people.
Average minds focus on issues.
Great minds focus on ideas.

You’re acting a lot like A......

If David is not exposing the reality of the GOP, he has no business picking on a private citizen.

He’s exposed the reality of the GOP e in many of his Obama Care columns.

But Donald Trump is not a private citizen....none of them are the very second they declare for President. Wow the inane childish fan boy attitudes and whininess of some of you is appalling.

Trump has given his solution. He wants to replace Obamacare and replace it with something really terrific and which will be a whole lot better and a whole lot cheaper. Who can argue with a plan like that? </sarcasm>

Here's the thing. It's an all-out assault on Trump by the elite/media/puppet masters. If they don't want Trump, it's because he's in it to mess up their game. Ignore any of these "issues" unless it's part of a checklist researching the history of all of the candidates views, and how or why they evolved.

Do I want Trump's bluster in the WH? OF COURSE, I'm made as hell, I'm sick of being the abused wife of the Republican Party always coming back for more, and Trump is the one who right now owes nobody any favors as far as cleaning up the mess goes.

And you know what happens if we're "not so sure" about Trump? Well, look who's doing very well behind him. It's Ted Cruz. You take out Trump, and the powers that be will dismantle Constitutional Conservatives who don't follow marching orders one at a time, next in line for destruction Cruz.

So let's accept President Trump for four years (can't seem him wanting eight years) to clean out the garbage in DC. Let's see which of the conservatives shows the best leadership qualities during that time.

Quite frankly, you're casting doubt about this issue or that issue achieves nothing except helping the puppet masters get one step closer to choosing the candidate. Wouldn't your time be better spent on getting Jeb to be reduced to nothingness and be out of the race?

>>There are people ragging on Trump who have more anti uniparty cred in their little toe than you have in your entire life and career.......

And how long is my entire life and career? Why don’t you stop insulting people (obamabot thinking, fan boy, etc) and start acting like a mature adult?

You said that you were looking for someone who was concerned about Trump but that defeating the GOP establishment is most important right now. I said that I am that guy. I also said that I hope Trump goes away before the voting begins. So, try to understand that I am not your enemy and that your childish insults are just proving that your so-called “anti uniparty cred” is the just undiscerning bumper sticker politics of people who listen to the radio more than they read what the enemy is writing.

I’ve been saying for weeks that Cruz needs to take a serious look at what works for Trump and to start emulating it. We need a street fighter, not a guy who thinks that politics has rules anymore. Because the Democrats only talk about rules when they are invoking Alinsky Rule #4.

BRET BAIER, FOX NEWS: Gentlemen, the next series of questions deals with Obamacare and the role of the federal government. Mr. Trump, Obamacare is one of the things you call a disaster.

DONALD TRUMP: Complete disaster, yes.

BAIER: Saying it needs to be repealed and replaced.

TRUMP: Correct.

BAIER: Now 15 years ago you called yourself a liberal on health care. You were for a single-payer system, a Canadian style system. Why were you for that then and why aren’t you for it now?

TRUMP: First of all I’d like to go back to [Iraq] — in July of 2004 I came out strongly against the war with Iraq because it was going to destabilize the Middle East. I’m the only one on the stage that knew that and had the vision to say it and that’s exactly what happened. So I just want to say that.

As far as single-payer, it works in Canada, works incredibly well in Scotland. Could have worked in a different age, which is the age you’re talking about here. What I would like to see is a private system without the artificial lines around every state. I have a big company with thousands and thousands of employees and if I’m negotiating in New York or New Jersey or California, I have like one bidder.

Nobody can bid. You know why? The insurance companies are making a fortune because they have control of the politicians. Of course with the exception of the politicians on the stage. But they have total control of the politicians. They’re making a fortune.

Trump does not scare me no matter what ideas he has espoused. Trump has never cast one vote that has had any effect on me. I have not given Trump the time of day.

Trump made the uniparties face the simmering anger over their official welcome mat to the invasion of illegals that is transforming this nation. It is a sight to behold what bubbles up from deep under the steaming piles of rotten sewage poured out over time by the uniparties.

Trump is not the issue. He peels back the ugly of government because he is a free agent. Not bought and is not for sale.

for purposes of political discourse and public statements, he is not a private citizen, he is recognized as part of the public. His candidacy is NOT a private issue.

You flunked civics and logic I see.

Yes, and promoting the idea that consumers should be able to shop for health insurance across state lines is an anti-capitalist idea.

The only thing keeping people from being able to shop for insurance across state lines are the state regulators and not the federal government. Having the federal government step in and say that states must allow it seems to be a trampling of the 10th Amendment.

As it is three states - Georgia, Maine, and Wyoming - already allow residents to buy across state lines and three others - Kentucky, Rhode Island, and Washington - looked into it. So far it hasn't resulted in reduced rates or increased choices for the people mainly because the companies themselves aren't chomping at the bit to cross lines. The insurance companies would have to go to the time and expense to establish networks with the health care providers, pharmacies, and hospitals in the new states and without any guarantee of enough additional customers to offset that then why would they want to do it?
