Donald Trump is having a meltdown after Megyn Kelly and Fox News cut him to pieces during the debate

Real-estate magnate Donald Trump reamed Fox News moderators and associates during a lengthy Twitter rant early Friday morning, hours after the first Republican presidential debate.

Trump went off on moderator Megyn Kelly, who he said "bombed." Kelly had perhaps the most contentious exchange of the night with Trump when she asked him about a slew of past offensive comments toward women.

And Trump had harsh words for Republican pollster Frank Luntz, who conducted a focus group of Republican voters that gave Trump brutal reviews after the debate. He called Luntz a "clown" and a "slob."

Trump cited two polls frequently during his rant — one from The Drudge Report, in which 50% of its readers chose him as the winner, and another from Time that found similar results.

Trump also spent a good chunk of time retweeting people who praised his performance. One of those tweets he quoted had bashed Kelly and referred to her as a "bimbo."

Here's (most of) the rant:

The moderators targeted Trump from the get-go with the kind of provocative, specific questions the GOP front-runner hasn't faced much on the campaign trail. The debate started with moderator Bret Baier asking all 10 candidates onstage whether they would pledge to back the eventual nominee. Trump was the only one who refused to take the pledge.

"I cannot say I have to respect the person that — if it's not me — the person that wins," Trump said.

I think Business Insider is having a meltdown over Donald Trump turning an ambush into a victory.

Is Business Insider located in Colorado?

Because they come off like that “Not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens” guy: high on drugs.

Anyone listening to Rush right now? Rush is all over the place on Trump with absolutely NO coherent thought. Am I the only one sitting here listening to Rush absolutely confused on where he’s going?

Freaking strange!

I will state my impressions, and then make tactical suggestions.

From a debate standpoint, there was virtually no debate. The Fox crew were on some sort of mission, if not an outright ego trip. They hogged much of the airtime, by directing often long queries against carefully isolated two-somes; obviously with greater hostility towards some candidates than others.

From the standpoint of oratorical techniques--I am a lifelong student of oratorical techniques--Rubio & Huckabee used their time rather well; so to a slightly lesser degree did Cruz & Carson. But none of the candidates had sufficient opportunity to show their rhetorical abilities, because of the ego or mission trip of the "moderators."

Also, for reasons of the same constraints, none of the candidates had much of an opportunity to develop any points with meaningful clarity--None!

Now, my personal bias from the start was in favor of Cruz and Trump, so I certainly appreciate Donald's ire at the way he was handled. But he needs to master two arts, which have served successful candidates throughout American history.

He needs to know when to use ire as an effective weapon & when to hold back an open display and effectively understate his displeasure with the choice of words that show he also has grace. (This can often be a very effective way to actually transfer the ire that you feel to a listener or supporter, who will feel the anger that you are suppressing by the understatement. Hollywood uses this concept endlessly to create emotional impact in movie dramas.)

Secondly, Donald needs to get a bit of Celtic lilt into his remarks, coupled with a Reaganesque smile. Again, this is a technique for stroking emotions. It is important, because ultimately most politics is driven by emotion.

Donald is completely right that there is no time to be "politically correct"; but for the same reason, it is essential to be as effective in reaching a multi-faceted, mnulti-emotion driven, audience, as possible.

Meltdown?

One man’s meltdown is another man’s triumphant gloating victory as he rubs in it the face of bimbo gotcha queens.

Meltdown indeed.

Yeah, you’re the only one listening to Rush. I quit him years ago.

But thanks for this update. I’ll see if anyone else makes note of this behavior.

Rush doesn’t want to throw any Republican under the bus (He should). FWIW I thought his answer with Rosie didn’t leave him flatfooted. When I saw it I thought it was a great answer...but I’m not a pundit

There is a Nicole Miller video if you scroll down for it. I was pleasantly surprised that Business Insider even bothered to post it.
She was very flattering to Donald and his family . . says he’s a family man and a guy’s guy and very gracious and kind.

the meltdown is not Donald Trump but viewers of the debate who were shocked and outraged by the behavior of the moderators, and are going to be dumping FOX News in droves

Sad to say that “fair and balanced” is now a brand marketing slogan to be mocked. Rupert better look for a new one

PS: Go look at Megyn Kelly’s facebook page

"You've called women you don't like, 'fat pigs,' 'dogs,' slobs, and disgusting animals," Kelly opened a question to Trump.

"Only Rosie O'Donnell," Trump quipped.

"No it wasn't. For the record, it was well beyond Rosie O'Donnell. Your Twitter account has several disparaging comments about women's looks. You once told a contestant on 'Celebrity Apprentice' it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?"

Well, Megyn, does that sound like the type of question for someone who should be moderating a debate to ask?

And, for the record, 'fat pigs,' 'dogs,' slobs, and 'disgusting animals' are all more accurate descriptions of Rosie O'Donnell than 'woman'.

And, while it isn't diplomatic to say so, it would, in fact, be a pretty picture to see a lot of women on their knees. But Bill Clinton was, in fact, the only president which actually had a woman on her knees giving him a blow job in the oval office and the skirts of the media almost unanimously consider him a hero. Why is that?

Waffling between Ailes of the GOPe and probably a majority of revenue generating listeners that are still on the Trump bandwagon?

Haven't really listened to Limbaugh for years. Only catch him now and then. I got tired of non-stop, in-show iced tea promotion increasingly taking away from the content portion.

It was a poorly designed event. The earlier debate, although it wasn’t a debate, was much better. The question and answer format gave each candidate the opportunity to express their views without being interrupted or attacking one another. Just like the later one, though, most of the questions were nasty. They were more like accusations than questions.

Last night’s debate was billed as a battle of wits between the candidates, but was actually between Fox News and Donald Trump. Roger Ailes wanted to make it absolutely clear that Fox News’s role as kingmaker and shaper of public opinion wasn’t to be effed with. Chris, Bret, and megyn are just his flying monkeys.

Trump is not having a meltdown. He is on the defensive side because the media is forming an offense against him. He is fine. He should either choose humor or change subjects and talk about what he would do as president. Just ignore them and their petty questions.

Yes, I'm listening...and it's funny that I was thinking the same thing as you are about 20 minutes into the show. Rush (re: the debate) is all over the place, rambling, meandering, not taking a stand on anything, not making any cogent courageous points....and definitely off his game.

He's not only confused, he's a total jelly fish, weak and floating limply on a sea of incoherence.

Did the Murdoch sons take over his network, also?
