The White House expressed confidence Monday that the House could sustain a presidential veto of a congressional resolution of disapproval against the Iran nuclear deal.
“We do feel confident that, if faced with the choice of sustaining the president’s veto of a resolution of disapproval, that we’ve got enough support in the House of Representatives to sustain that veto,” press secretary Josh Earnest said Monday.
That is one of the strongest statements yet from the White House that it believes it could defeat an effort by Republicans in Congress to kill the agreement.
Earnest’s comments came on the same day Republicans announced a majority of House lawmakers signed onto a bill that condemns the nuclear accord, a sign a majority would vote for a formal resolution against the deal.
But opponents of the agreement would need two-thirds of both chambers to override President Obama’s veto of a resolution against the deal.
Justifying the White House's confidence, Earnest pointed to a letter signed by 150 House Democrats in May, before the pact was finalized, voicing support for the negotiations.
He also said the "momentum" is on their side in the fight over the deal in Congress.
But the administration will continue to lobby Democrats to back the deal, he said.
“We don’t take those votes for granted,” Earnest said.
Congress should cut funding to the government unless Obama abdicates the Iran deal.

Huh? The GOPers are so obliging that BamBam has only had to use veto power twice in seven years.
It’s all going as choreographed by the Surrender Party. Congress will vote along mostly party lines and the Obama will veto. Veto will not be over ridden and then the kenyan will do a victory lap.
He will indeed, take his victory lap. There is zero chance of stopping this. I just wonder if a new president can use his pen and phone, and put a stop to this lunacy?

It’s more like the GOP is the We Don’t Care Party or the Pay Me Party. They’re smart enough to get to the beltway so IQ isn’t the problem.
That happened to me a few years ago. I ranted and raved at that dip wad for several minutes. I called him every name in the book, and even dreamed up a few more. I told them if they ever called me again, they could expect another blistering verbal attack. There was no doubt in his mind, that I was totally POd. I have to give the guy credit, however, he patiently took it all, and thanked me for my opinion. They never called me again.
Was there ever any doubt really? At the end of the day, Dems will do exactly what their King Obama tells them do do.. and he knows it.
Obama is the supreme leader of the Progressive Liberal Democrat/Rino Communist Uni-Party, of course he is confident just as confident as Hitler was knowing the Nazi’s of whom he was the supreme leader had his back.
The parallels between the two are astounding, obama is confident he will get whatever he wants when he wants it, nobody, no group, no authority (as in Constitution) has stopped him yet.
