Donald Trump: ‘I’m not a debater’

Four days before the first debate of the 2016 presidential election cycle, Republican front-runner Donald Trump says viewers shouldn’t expect to see fireworks from his side of the stage.

“I’m not a debater,” Trump said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday. “These politicians — I always say, they’re all talk, no action. They debate all the time. They go out and they debate every night. I don’t debate.”

“Maybe my whole life is a debate, in a way,” Trump continued. “But the fact is I’m not a debater and they are. But with that being said, I look forward to it. We’ll see what happens. Who knows?”

The real estate mogul says he won’t be in attack mode — a shift from what we’re used to seeing from Trump on the campaign trail.

“I don’t think I’m going to be throwing punches,” he said. “I’m not looking to attack them. … Every attack I made was a counterpunch. I mean, they attacked me first and I hit them back and maybe harder than they hit me. But the fact is that I’ve been attacked pretty viciously by some of these guys. And I have a lot of respect for numerous people on the stage. I will tell you, I have great respect for some of the people on the stage. But I have been attacked and I counterpunch. I didn’t start the attacks.”

Thursday’s primetime GOP debate, televised on Fox, will feature the top 10 Republican candidates as calculated by an average of the last five major national polls, according to the network’s rules. And a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday shows Trump is surging.

According to the survey, Trump is the first choice of 19 percent of likely Republican primary and caucus voters, followed by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (15 percent), former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (14 percent), retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson (10 percent) and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (9 percent).....................Trump is in control!!!

He's not a Conservative, either, but he says what so many of us want so badly to here, that some think that he believes what he says.

Trump is Hillary's Perot.

He will run third party, and sadly, win the election for Hillary.

That’s okay Donald.

None of the election “debates” are really debates.

And these aren’t debates. So that’s fine.

Moderator 1 : “Gotcha?”
Candidate 1 : “Poll-tested spiel.”
Candidate 2 : “Poll-tested spiel.”
Moderator 2 : “Gotcha?”
Candidate 3 : “Poll-tested spiel.”
Candidate 4 : “Poll-tested spiel.”
Ad infinitum...

Trump is Hillary's Perot. He will run third party, and sadly, win the election for Hillary.

That is certainly the fear.

However IF he was GENUINELY going to run for President as a Republican, he would be doing it EXACTLY as he IS doing it.

Gotta look at all the facts.

That’s O.K. as Rubio. Bush and Jebbie are master debaters.

If he wins the GOP nomination, he beats Hillary.

Trump is the only candidate who can beat Bush and Hillary. Begs the question, why would the GOP not nominate the ONLY person who could beat Hillary?

If he goes out and says what he wants to do and why he will lay waste to the other candidates.

He should pull a Henny Youngman!

Whenever Henny was asked to do a benefit or a roast he would get to the podium and just launch into his usual routine of one-liners... never mentioning the benefit or the roastee. It was a hoot.

If the moderator asks Trump a stupid question he should just say "That's a stupid question" and launch into his fine talking points...lol It would drive them nuts :-)

If anyone takes a verbal poke at him he should just say the guy is a total loser and has no business being on the stage.

If Trump gets in one good line of the quality of Reagans "I will not exploit my opponent's youth and inexperience" just stick the crown on him because he has won the election.

Take me wife, please!

You do realize why Perot won 20% of the popular vote, right?

Because Poppy Bush morphed into a moderate, feckless @ss after having record approval ratings after the Gulf War.

Trump's support directly corresponds with the disgust conservatives have towards the GOPe. Stop anointing feckless, cowardly GOP nominees and there wouldn't be a Trump or Perot.

The GOPe did this to themselves. You can’t go to war with the base of the party and not expect consequences from it.

The leader of the Free World must be able to comport him or herself well in a debate forum (with an above average command of all the facts at hand), my good FRiend. U.S. (and World) History tells us that.
