WASHINGTON -- The association representing gun retailers has rejected a call by 13 Democratic senators and nine police organizations to stop selling guns to purchasers who haven't been cleared by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

Air drop guns int Chicago and Baltimore. Give them a fighting chance.
If you could deny gun sales to people not cleared, then all the feds have to do is stop clearing people, then no more sales.
Liberals will claim that it is “common sense” to deny a purchase to someone who hasn’t been cleared in 3 days when in reality they would defund the NICS system to where it would take weeks or months to be cleared if there were no limit.
Try and change the LAW then, or have the lawless POS POTUS write an EO to get “things” moving and declare ML like he wants to
Bingo - that’s the plan:
“If you could deny gun sales to people not cleared, then all the feds have to do is stop clearing people, then no more sales.”
Watch for a Cyber attack compromise of the NCIS system, and resulting prolonged delay controversy.
Hey, we have been waiting 2 years for IRS documents, Benghazi documents, 6+ years on fast and furious. We going to fall for this trick?
Give them 5 days to clear, and if not, they get a $25 government gift certificate towards your next purchase of Ammo for your bright shiny new gun.
That is what they are angling for.
They fail to enforce their own rules or laws, then they saw the rules or laws are broken, now we need new much harsher laws to make sure this never happens again.
Kind of like they are doing with immigration really.
Having never subjected myself to NICS check, I have no clue what would happen if I did... Why do I have the dreadful feeling that if I do subject myself to that, that I will be SWATed at 2am to clear my farmhouse of the potential long guns I own free and clear (that were not lost in a tragic Lake Erie Boating Accident). You know, the ones that may have been purchased privately, without the NICS garbage?
Not having a deadline to approve/reject is not much different than allowing detention without trial. It flips everything over.
In the case of guns, it means that if the agency doing the check is not convinced that the potential gun buyer isn’t a good guy (rather than found to be a bad guy), then you simply put an indefinite hold on the purchase (and future purchase attempts). No need to have to document what would effectively be a rejection.
Similar to holding people without trial. The pigs think you did it, maybe based on “gut feel” but without evidence they can’t charge you, and they’ll certainly lose at trial. So they effectively ‘convict’ you by simply ‘forgetting’ about you while you’re in jail.
So, sorry Dems, gun rights may be the ONLY ISSUE these days that Republicans are significantly different than Dems, but the Reps are more or less holding their ground.
You nailed it. That is the Holy Grail for gun grabbers.
And some idiot RINO’s (FU Toomey) believe this sh%$.
Somehow they can do INSTANT background checks for Do Not Fly lists and Security Clearances, but with guns the computers seem to magically slow down.
Good for them!
"Shall not be infringed..." M*F*s...
I’m an FFL and run NICS checks all the time. Maybe 10-15 percent of NICS checks result in a DELAY status. Of those, probably at least a 1/3 NEVER receive a final status ruling. You just never hear back from NICS. I’ve got a number of repeat customers who always get delays. They eventually get cleared but they get a delay every time (NICS can’t save a “proceed” record so getting cleared once has no effect on future delays). All kinds of people get delays — everything from urban youths to doctors, lawyers and candlestick makers. I have one customer who was an FFL for more than 15 years. HE GETS DELAYS. At least once I sold that individual a gun and NICS never issued a final ruling.
The people proposing this idea that a final ruling has to be issued before a gun is sold have no idea who they’re messing with. Lots of well-connected, successful, wealthy and politically involved people are gun enthusiasts. It’s safe to assume that at least some of these people get delays (I can say that because I see it happen to them). Folks generally take a three-day wait in stride. You start telling a bank vice president or a local business owner that he can’t pick up his new over/under shotgun or that vintage Colt revolver he’s been searching for because NICS hasn’t cleared him and the phones on Capital Hill are going to light up.
Actually, they should fine the NICS personnel if they can’t do there jobs ... reduce their bonuses by the amount of the fine until they run out of bonus money and then fire them for poor performance. There are 24 hours in a day and 16 of them are available for getting your job done!!!! (note: that is what these judges should be telling those government puke lawyers when they finally get caught delaying FOIA requests).

That is so because gun checking bureaucraps have to be retrained after each coffee break.
If they got paid like teachers, everyone would pass.
