When deciding on a carry gun, I decided on a Ruger LCP, because in my job I have to dress a certain way, and pocket carry was my only real option. So, small, easily concealable, and above all *reliable* was in order, and I knew that I could get all of that with the Ruger. I know for a fact that it is drop safe, having slung it across a hotel room while trying out a poorly fitting holster (the holster went back).

Embarrassed to say I can back you up. It also goes bang every time with both target and defense ammo. Hate shooting it. Only the trigger slap on my CZ-52 hurts worse.

Taurus had a Tracker Ti, total titanium frame revolver, that was GREAT for backpacking.
Came in the small calibers, but also in .357, .41 and .44 magnums.
IMHO, the .357 was the ABSOLUTE limit in bear country.
Preferably the .41 and especially the .44.
Ported barrels, so they didn't kick up. But they'd put a sting into your hands.

The LCP’s were recalled a few years back for the same problem.

I’ve got two I bought in 2008 and they were covered in the recall.

Get a Sneaky Pete holster for your LCP. You will love it. Maybe as much as I love mine :)
