Hillary Clintons polling is in freefall to such an extent that avowed socialist Bernie Sanders is looking like a palatable candidate to more than just the Democratic base.
A recent Quinnipiac poll shows that the inevitable Democratic candidate is seeing her campaigns momentum diminish. Time reports:
Six weeks after setting her candidacy into high gear, former Secretary of State Hillary Clintons poll numbers are continuing to fall, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.
Across nearly every key metric, from trustworthiness to caring about voters to leadership, Clinton has seen an erosion in public approval, as likely Republican rivals have erased her leads in the poll. Clinton has a net -11 favorability rating in the poll, with 40% of the American public viewing her positively and 51% negatively, with more than 50% of independents on the negative side.
Then there is the matter of her losing ground in public perception versus her GOP opponents:
If the election were held today, Clinton would be tied with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in the polldown from significant leads in a May 28 surveybut would top the current GOP frontrunner Donald Trump.
Uncharacteristically, Hillary Clinton would be in a battle against Jeb Bush and Scott Walker, but would win handily against a Trump candidacy (of course, its still too early to tell ahead of a first debate). Not only would Hillary edge Trump, so would Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden.
Matchups among all American voters show, via Quinnipiac:
>> Clinton thumps Trump 48 36 percent. She gets 41 percent to Bushs 42 percent and gets 44 percent to Walkers 43 percent.
>> Biden tops Trump 49 37 percent. He gets 43 percent to Bushs 42 percent and ties Walker 43 43 percent.
>> Sanders beats Trump 45 37 percent. Bush edges Sanders 44 39 percent and Walker slips past Sanders 42 37 percent.
The negatives for both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are appreciable:
Trump has the worst favorability rating of any Republican or Democrat, a negative 27 59 percent among all voters, with Clinton getting a negative 40 51 percent score, her worst ever.
The Fox News debate on August 6th will present Donald Trump and other qualifying GOP candidates with a crucial chance to improve their likability and broaden their appeal to the American electorate. Achieving all that while firing up the party base thats going to be a challenge for any presidential candidate at this stage in the campaign season.
Clearly, then, the GOP should skip the primaries and nominate Bush right away. Problem solved.
She is losing ground until there is an actual GOP opponent.
Walker polls the best in these polls, not Jeb.
So no mention of Cruz at all in the article? Hmm.
Soon her Royal Queenness will be unable to hide her anger, impatience and disgust with the public which is rejecting her. It will show, knocking her numbers down some more.
Neck-in-neck?
Heh. What he’s looking for neck-and-neck, as in the finish of a horse race. Neck-in-neck sounds Siamese-twinish.
fwiw;
Camille Paglia:
“....Oh, I dont see Hillary as even getting as far as the debates! If things continue to trend downward for her, in terms of her favorability and the increasing scandals, then the Democratic establishment will have to take action to avoid a sure GOP win. Hillary has way too much baggage for a general electionthat should have been obvious from the start. If Vice-President Biden jumps in, that would change everything. I dont think Hillary wants to be defeated, so what Ive been predicting all along is that there will be a health crisis, and she will withdraw. Right now, her campaign is trying to change the headlines by releasing some new policy statement every day, but its not going to change the looming investigations into her conduct as Secretary of State. And of course the GOP is holding back its real anti-Hillary ammunition until shes the nominee. Then well all be plunged backward into the endless nightmare of the Clinton yearsit will be pure hell!.....

And McCain would win by 7 points.
You've outdone yourself.
Excellent!
How can this skirt debate anything, when she does not answer any questions put to her?
President McCain and President Romney were the most electable candidates too.
I have come to trust polls more than usual, but if you think Bernie Sanders would beat Trump in any universe, then your hatred of Trump has seriously clouded your judgment.
Exactly. While not 100% true, SOME of the early polling is designed to force potential GOP winners out. But they haven’t figured out how to handle Trump yet, because he defies some of their polling (see the “high unfavorables” yet look at that CNN focus group where 100% liked him).
By the same token, anyone who thinks Trump can’t beat Hillary is delusional. Trump will get a Yuge number of Reagan Democrat votes.
She should be holding a booking placard.
