[ The killing of this poor lion by this fool was grotesque, and I’m not trying to justify it in any way. This idiot is a butcher, not a huntsman or a sportsman. The outrage is deserved. ]

Indeed I despise killing of any animal that is a Predator who is NOT actively harming or a dangerous immediate threat to a humans or the environment.

I grew up on a farm so i have a unique perspective. We killed a lot of vermin animals, we didn’t have trophy animals, we were too damned busy.

Killing of animals that is acceptable:

Coyotes: They kill baby cows and sometimes mother cows and can spread disease if over populated.

Raccoons: They carry disease and are cause property damage.

Prarie Dogs: Dig holes that cows can step into and get hurt they also screw with the crops.

This Lion wasn’t hurting anyone and hadn’t become a “man eater” like some of the big cats can sometimes become.

I think we shouldn’t kill some of the bigger predators and animals of intelligence like the great apes, and elephants, and sea animals that show intelligence.

Some animals like antelope, deer, rabbits, and other herbivores are pretty much the animals we should hunt provided we don’t drive them to extinction.

That being said the Polar Bear numbers are actually rising and soon they will become a nuisance and they should issue a few permits for them in areas they overlap with humans.

My understanding is that this particular lion was elderly and used to being around humans. He was then lured out of national park boundaries and killed in a cruel fashion, and then his killers removed the tracking collar so his whereabouts would not be discovered.

It was the equivalent of shooting a lion at the zoo, or nearly so, and just as despicable.

We won't.

Here in the good, ol' USofA they just get life without parole.
