The killing of this poor lion by this fool was grotesque, and I’m not trying to justify it in any way. This idiot is a butcher, not a huntsman or a sportsman. The outrage is deserved.

But what is almost equally idiotic - and I think this is the point that Rush was making - is that the drive-by media is so despicable and biased that they can’t condemn this moron for his actions alone; they are compelled to bring politics into it in a childish way and attempt thereby to impugn Romney and other Republicans by the flimsiest of associations.

Why did The Hill spend time researching and publishing the fact that this guy donated to Romney other than an utterly transparent attempt to paint all Republicans (like the evil Koch Brothers!) with the brush of savagery and what amounts to animal cruelty? You, of course, know the answer - no slur or innuendo is so low that the left will not attempt to exploit it.

That is the point that I was trying to make with my, admittedly, somewhat elliptical comments.

Indeed I despise killing of any animal that is a Predator who is NOT actively harming or a dangerous immediate threat to a humans or the environment.

I grew up on a farm so i have a unique perspective. We killed a lot of vermin animals, we didn’t have trophy animals, we were too damned busy.

Killing of animals that is acceptable:

Coyotes: They kill baby cows and sometimes mother cows and can spread disease if over populated.

Raccoons: They carry disease and are cause property damage.

Prarie Dogs: Dig holes that cows can step into and get hurt they also screw with the crops.

This Lion wasn’t hurting anyone and hadn’t become a “man eater” like some of the big cats can sometimes become.

I think we shouldn’t kill some of the bigger predators and animals of intelligence like the great apes, and elephants, and sea animals that show intelligence.

Some animals like antelope, deer, rabbits, and other herbivores are pretty much the animals we should hunt provided we don’t drive them to extinction.

That being said the Polar Bear numbers are actually rising and soon they will become a nuisance and they should issue a few permits for them in areas they overlap with humans.
