Yes, they will.

It totally explains how Germany could go from a civilized country to a murderous, fascist regime in just the space of a few years, with the backing of most of the populace.

The officer wrote in his report he fired because he was being dragged, and while the car *was* in gear, it didn’t move until the driver was shot in the head. The officer was not in any danger. The fact that he falsified the report indicates that he knew that.

This is why Cop unions don't support body cams.

Now here is the next big deal.....if the car wasn’t in gear, ready to roll, how did the car take off after the shooting. The cop had no idea who or what he was dealing with, all he knew was no ID, a bottle of gin on the floor, continual movement in the front seat, and a guy ready to flee.

No, here's the big deal...THE COP SAID THAT HE SHOT BECAUSE HE WAS BEING DRUG BY THE CAR. BUT THE CAR TOOK OFF AFTER THE SHOOTING

When an officer with a firearm and the authorization to arrest & use deadly force tells you to do something, do it. You don’t have to be a tough guy, and he won’t ask you to kiss his ass. The officer may be a jerk (there are more than a few), but you’ll stay alive to sort it out & maybe take legal action later.

But what do I know? Be a combative horse’s ass when/if an officer stops you. Let us know how it works out.

He was fleeing, WHY? And if YOU don’t have a reasonable answer then I would suspect the cop didn’t either, he could only surmise the worst, had only a split second to think about WHY a perp grabbed his arm, and was taking off.

OK assume for a minute he was fleeing. So what? The man had not shown he was armed or a threat to anyone. Call it in, go to your car and pursue. Why the need to immediately shoot him in the head?

And when there isn't a "later"? When police get so used to abusing their authority and getting immediate, unquestioning, blind obedience to every order they give then what? If you give up your rights and your freedoms to any authority figure who comes along then you don't get them back. And when you try to "sort it out later" and run into cops lying for cops and it's your word against one or two others what then?

If standing up for your rights in the face of abuse by authorities is suddenly a life-threatening action then I fear for what this country has become.

You are right, exactly what should have happened. Very sad and definitely avoidable. But first degree murder?

But first degree murder?

Was it first degree? All I heard was muder. In Ohio "aggravated murder" is what many people think of as first degree murder. "Felony murder" would be second degree. And just plain "murder" is considered second degree but carries a lesser maximum penalty. So it all depends on how they worded it.

Regardless of how they charge him, DuBose should not be dead. The cop should pay for his actions.

Well, the heads were talking after the announcement/press conference, and had mentioned it was first degree, so I am going on what they said. Deters called it purposeful murder and intentional. “This kind of thing happens in Afghanistan, but not here.” (Paraphrased).

Did I hear the cop scream something like “he’s dragging me.” I had to watch the You Tube video because the other videos kept freezing on me. Everything was fine until the cop opened the door and this Dubose guy pulled it shut. The cop was super nice up until that point. Color me confused!

You know, the guy had 75 offenses - mostly for driving without a license. Call me cold, but he was a drunk driver who may have been -that very day - capable of killing a pedestrian on the street. Then everybody would be screaming bloody murder about why wasn’t this guy in jail.

Also, for his dress alone he should have been arrested by the fashion police. A 43 year old man - with 13 kids, mind you, dressed like Jimmy Walker.
