As conservatives prepare to support a Republican for the 2016 presidential race, a large number seem convinced that Donald Trump is their best choice. Why? He is certainly mouthing the right things on many issues, particularly immigration, but does Trump really believe what he is saying? Surely that is the key.
Consider his history. Trump has given money to Hillary Clinton, to Chuck Schumer, to Harry Reid, and to the whole rogues gallery of dreadful leftists who are ruining America. He can have only two explanations for helping these corrupt Democrats.
First, he was so dumb and ignorant about what Hillary or Harry represented that he had no idea that helping them would ruin America. Millions of conservatives grasped the wickedness and deceitfulness of these leftists decades ago. When did Donald learn that they were bad? Why was he so much slower and stupider than the rest of us?
Second, Trump may have simply been buying influence in Washington with money. If that is so, then why in the world would conservatives give him a second glance as a presidential candidate? Buying influence in Washington is precisely what we are fighting. Even if Trump were padding his bets by giving money to both sides, he is as bad as or even worse than any run-of-the-mill Washington politician.
Consider his flip-flopping on abortion and on gay marriage. His position on socially conservative issues sure seems to follow what Trump needs to be popular. Has Trump even articulated a serious critic of Abortionism or gay marriage? He may, in fact, have changed his position on those issues, but the reasons why look like political expediency.

Trust Trump for one reason ....he does something all the other GOPers are afraid of doing......HE FIGHTS...... MEAN OLD SCHOOL..... AND VERY POLITICALLY INCORRECTLY
Trump is keeping Cruz’s candidacy viable.
Without Trump, Jeb could use the inevitably aura thing and wraps the nomination up early. With Trump in, no one is going to run away with it and keep guys like Cruz viable until states like Texas.
I seriously doubt they would have the viciousness and ego of Trump to totally eviscerate the bureaucracy and fire the idiots by the hundreds. Only Trump CAN.

agreed
Why trust Trump?
Very simple answer, the established Republican leadership have repeatedly proven themselves unworthy of my trust.
If I don’t trust you I am sure has nd.. not going to vote for you!
Any other stupid questions?
For Trump Republican isn’t a conversion, it’s a team jersey. Trump’s politics are Trump.
He wants to show he’s a success by saving America, conservativism is the only pathway, he’s a practical man.
If it’s proving the world he’s Trump, is the drive that makes him go 24-7-365 to save the country, that’ll do.
I don’t trust Trump but I don’t trust any politician. I like Trump’s campaign but I’ll probably vote for Cruz.
“Most of us, who can see the truth, do NOT trust Trump”
No most of us who can handle the truth trust Trump. :-)
“His name is Cruz”
Great guy but polling a 7% is not very heartening.
This whole situation, and Trump’s rise, is VERY dangerous because it signals the complete collapse of checks and balances and Congress’s willingness to do its job. This is exactly how you get dictators. Unfortunately we are stuck between dictators we know-—Zero and Hillary-—and a guy with the potential to be a dictator. In this case, I’m going with the devil I don’t know.
This one is like being in a group of middle school students who are “superior” academically to the small class of Down’s Syndrome students.
It’s a large group and while the superiority is real it doesn’t mean much. And the people who they are superior to are to be pitied in both cases.
Trump is a populist. Populists don’t have a cohesive world view formed by core moral values. Of course he is untrustworthy.
However, one doesn’t have to trust Trump any further than Steven Hawking could throw him to enjoy the show. All the open borders idiots scurrying around like their ant hill has been stomped is delightful.
He is one man in the Senate...how can he affect change if there are only about 5 Conservatives in the Senate. Small ball is the best way to play. Besides, after this speech, believe it or not, the House won’t take up funding. So, I would say that at least for now, he won.
How will Trump affect change? People keep assuming he is anti-establishment...but look at his donation lists, especially under his corporations, and you will see he has put some good money BEHIND some of these uni-party people.
Trump is loud, that is about it. Cruz, once in the national light, will shine. BTW, WHY is it that the media keeps playing up Trump while burying Cruz?
I answered that already...I trust Cruz. Why? Because Cruz has a history.
We can’t and shouldn’t trust Jebbie, Dunkin- Donuts, Rubio, etc...absolutely not. At the same time, though, WHY would I be inclined to trust a man who, up until recently, held positions that are opposite of what we believe?
But therein lies the problem...
We hear all the time that NOBODY we know supports Jeb. Well, if that is the case, then he wouldn’t run away with the nomination anyway.
We also hear from Trump people that polls count and Trump is winning and Cruz is only at 4%...so, is that viable?
We can’t have it both ways.
Well I didn’t know anybody who voted for Bill Clinton, but he won anyway.
The first red flag is when the article notes that Trump has donated to Dems, but doesn’t mentioned that he’s donated to Republicans an even larger amount.
Actually Cruz is my personal first choice too, but he’s polling at 4%. The people who best represent my viewpoint are NEVER elected :-(.
Not so fast, there, son.
That is a RED herring...
He has ONLY started supporting Republicans in 2012...when he originally sought the Republican nomination.
Look at his corporate gifts...not only is he blasted for NOT being generous in monetary donations, but he has given Cory Booker, for example, a lot of money...more than the rest.
Do the research...follow the pattern. It is all there.
What do you trust about Trump?
His stance on the 2nd? Abortion...I mean, he has taken such a firm stance on PP. Health care (I as once for single payer....), his recent flips on Amnesty (and yes, he did flip if you compare his interviews on Fox vs. MSNBC), the Supreme Court? who would be his likely Veep...we know who would be Walker’s. You must trust his past with Democrat politics...oh, wait, the fact that the Clintons were front row attendees at this wedding...
Is this what you trust?
It is certainly far too early to agree on a candidate for 2016. But Donald Trump's boisterous but focused entrance into the race, has already conferred serious benefits on those of us who are still hoping to salvage traditional American values from the policy of deliberate betrayal that has characterized not only the Obama Administration, but some of the whipped cur Republicans, who have managed to "go along," one guesses to "get along," in the words of one of their kindred spirits.
