I have just heard what he said on Hannity on how he would handle the lawbreakers. As someone who has been engaged with this issue for over 8 years and lobbies on the Hill, I am able to evaluate these proposals, most of which are not new. The Pence "touchback" scheme was developed as a sop to conservatives who favor attrition thru enforcement. No legalization and the ability to stay and work here for any of them. They have broken our laws in multiple ways beyond entering illegally.

When you reward something, you get more of it. We had a "one time" amnesty in 1986. The proponents said there would never be another. At the time the USG estimated that 1 million would apply, but the true number turned out to be 2.7 million. We now have 12 million according to the USG, but other estimates range as high as 30 million. The Heritage Foundation estimated the costs to the taxpayer of amnesty at $6.3 trillion if we just have 12 million.

I can see what your saying, and maybe Trump will use this as a ‘plan’ sort of...but my dealings with ‘rich businessmen’ I have found that they just don’t say to much or show their hand until everything is in place, then you understand what has been going on...

I like your posts...

It’s not a great plan, they break federal laws (which we know obviously aren’t enforced, but they’re federal laws nonetheless) by being here illegally. Why give felons a chance by being good little boys and girls?

Mr. Trump is making it too difficult.

It’s quite easy actually. Call it the Illegal Immigration Act. Comprises the following:

“Individuals present in the United States illegally are subject to the following:

1. Immediate deportation, including all family members present in the country illegally.
2. All assets seized.
3. All assets owned in Mexico are seized.
4. Criminals are immediately transported to the penitentiary island of Puerto Rico.”

“Government, Private, and non profit organizations are required to ensure no goods and services are provided to individuals illegally present. Proof of legal citizenship or Visa status in the U.S. are required for all:

1. Transportation services
2. Vehicle services
3. Voter registration
4. Legal services
5. Fuel products
6. Utilities and electricity
7. Home loans, ownership, lease, or rental properties
8. Public and private education and school enrollment
9. Banking and financial services
10. International bank wire transfers

Violation of this section constitutes the following penalties:

1. $10,000 per individual upon first reported violation
2. $100,000 per individual upon second reported violation
3. Subsequent violations require review by the Immigration Services Board, with penalties not exceeding a maximum of 50 years in prison and $15,000,000 fine per incident.”

A great way for the governments to grab cash while solving many issues, including voter fraud and abuse of social services.

How about enforcing existing law.

Law is not Executive edicts and nonfeasance, law is Acts of Congress.

But I think he is wrong about building the fence. It should be built FIRST to stem the flood of illegals, then begin the process of rounding them up and deporting them.

We'd need to patrol the border like Israel patrols her borders. I'm not saying that would necessarily be a problem, but we'd probably need citizen brigades, possibly deputized, to augment the current Border Patrol. Obviously, the BP would need better RoE to defend themselves and this country.

All administered by the same Federal Government that does such a good job with health care, the IRS, and the VA.

A better idea: give government one function. Enforce the law by deportation.

Existing law has no teeth.

Be explicit. Impose massive fines. Beat up violators with money. That’s the way to do it.

Laws that generate revenue are always enforced.

The people that Trump is talking about are people who have been here for years and have been productive, some of whom have created businesses. In all cases they would be people who have assimilated and regard the U.S. as their country. They still have to return to their native countries and go through the process of legal immigration.

With the additional implementation of a reduction in overall legal immigration, this is a good plan.

Yes, I like that plan. Cruz has said that if they have to be deported they lose any chance of becoming citizens.

Unless you can coerce Mexico to help close the border you won’t get anywhere. Threaten Mexico with a 10% surcharge on all remittances and see how fast they run to help. The trains and foot traffic from Central America could be halted by Mexico anytime they wanted.

there are no GOOD....CRIMINAL Illegal Aliens...by virtue of the fact...that they’ve already Broken the LAW!!!

Life Is tough....buts its gonna be a lot worse if we let CRIMINALS just waltz home and then Beg to Return.

Donalds framing it a manner that SOUNDS so caring...

frankly..We can not afford to CARE for that many CRIMINALS!!

Estimates are far higher than 12 stinking million CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS...

there were that many estimated to be here back in the 1990s

Act on the LAW! thats all we need to do!!!
