The following is an email I sent to the March of Dimes:
It is sickening that the March of Dimes with the slogan - "A Fighting Chance for Every Baby" - donates to Planned Parenthood, an organization that kills babies and sells their body parts. Why do you support the Planned Parenthood abortion mill?
Here is their response:
Thank you for your inquiry. A few local March of Dimes chapters have given local grants to Planned Parenthood exclusively for preconception, prenatal, and interconception education in areas of the country where prenatal care is sparse, non-existent or difficult to access. This allows women to get the care they need to help improve the health of both mom and baby. [Reality: The effect of such grants is to indirectly provide additional funds for abortion services. Money is fungible. Such grants provide the opportunity for Planned Parenthood to increase the amount of undesignated donations to be used for abortion services.]
The March of Dimes is neutral on the subject of abortion. The March of Dimes does not encourage, fund, or support abortion services through national, state or community grants, nor may Foundation funds be used for directive counseling regarding abortion. Violation of this policy would be grounds for immediate cancellation of a grant. [Translation: We do not oppose abortion so therefore we are pro-choice but not necessarily pro-abortion]
Thank you for this opportunity to give you accurate information about March of Dimes policies and activities. We are deeply grateful for your dedication to and support of our lifesaving mission.
However --- other than bad and fraudulent stewardship of contributor's money --- the even more morally objectionable part of their activities is the hostile surveillance, and physical destruction, of medically needy children of whom they claim to be benefactors..
What’s next? PETA is going to open a KFC franchise?
Translation of March’s mealy-mouthed alibi:
We send big bucks to PP because it’s the chic thing to do these days. WE want to belong to the IN crowd as much as anyone. How would we get invited to the RIGHT cocktail parties is we’re not on the cutting edge? (No pun intended).
George Grant, in his mid 80s book, Grand Illusions: The Legacy of Planned Parenthood, wrote about the then tight connection tween MoD & PP.
Grant also highlighted how the MoD's emphasis on amniocentesis was essentially a "search and destroy" mission...that the way to "root out" the disabled was to find them in the womb & kill 'em off.
After all, before prenatal surgeries became common, any disabilities uncovered in the womb in the 80s and 90s didn't lend themselves to any healing of those disabilities within the womb. (And it's still true with most early disabilities today) So the implied "what you do with a disability discovery" was to abort.
I give to one charity and one charity only, THE SALVATION ARMY!
