Kill Trump's third-party threat: Republican Party chief wants all GOP candidates to pledge not to run as independents – but only one might

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus says every GOP White House hopeful 'should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate' He was responding to threats from front-runner Donald Trump to undercut the party if Priebus and others don't show him more respect 'I think everyone understands that if Hillary Clinton's going to get beat, she's going to get beat by a Republican,' Priebus said Trump walked back the notion of a break with the party after some conciliatory gestures from the RNC The chairman of the Republican National Committee said Monday that every GOP candidate for president 'should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate,' a not-so-subtle reference to Donald Trump's threat ot breaking off and doing things his own way – as an independent.

Trump, the undisputed front-runner, said last week that he wouldn't rule out running as a third-party candidate and freezing the GOP out of his meteoric rise if the party didn't start treating him better.

'Certainly, I think our candidates should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate,' RNC bigwig Reince Priebus said Monday on NBC's 'TODAY' show. But he quickly added that 'I don't see that happening' and 'I don’t fear that.'

'I think everyone understands that if Hillary Clinton’s going to get beat, she's going to get beat by a Republican,' Priebus said. 'And most people that run for president run to win, and if our candidates want to win, then they'll have to run as a Republican.'

We’ll lose, yet again, if he goes third party. Sigh.

Does Priebus really think Donald Trump is a fool? Does he really think he can out-negotiate Donald Trump?

Why in the world should Donald Trump sign such a pledge? That would be like putting a big “Kick Me GOPe” sign on his back!

I hope Trump and Cruz tell Priebus where he can stick his pledge.

You know, instead of the old-line GOP circling the wagons, how about they try to figure out why so many of us are pissed off at the GOP and what they need to do to fix it. First hint: we conservatives and don’t appreciate you giving away anything to illegal immigrants. Second hint: pass a Constitutional Amendment that says: Any politician who votes for a budget that results in a 3% or more deficit cannot sit for reelection.

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus
and Boehner and McConnell should pledge to kill themselves
if 63% of the electorate demand it.

Instead, they lie, lie, lie.

If they had honor, they would have committed ritual suicide.

Unreal - Preibus’s comment tips the RNC’s hand showing how scared they are. Trump is an expert negotiator but even a noob knows he holds all the cards here.

It’s like those FICO score commercials, he should start telling Preibus what else he wants from the GOP. Maybe the ottoman?

He's not going third party. He can't afford to be POTUS. In November, when registration for the first GOP primary closes, he will withdraw and hand his supporters over to Cruz.

In the meantime he's going to have a blast carpet-bombing the DC cartel.

Hey Reince ... here’s the pledge you must make: nominate Ted Cruz or face a third party. Embrace the suck.

the stupid party strikes again.

i’m not a Trump supporter (afterall, Trump is the guy who donated $50K to Rahm Emmanuel’s chicago mayoral run just a couple of years ago, as well as donations to Ted Kennedy and John Kerry and Charlie Rangel), but he scares the GOPe because he has a ton of money and can actually afford to run a 3rd party candidacy all by himself.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trumps-donation-history-shows-democratic-favoritism/2011/04/25/AFDUddtE_story.html

you can smell the desperation the GOPe is feeling right now over their “Trump Problem”. if they hadn’t been such corrupt insider jerks for the past 20+ years, maybe they wouldn’t be in this mess now.

Why not have the candidates pledge to give the RNC carte blanch in defrauding Republican voters? It would at least be more honest, and would accomplish the same thing.

If the elites do not want Trump to run as a third party candidate all they have to do is stop trashing him and trying to drive him away.

The GOP establishemt is becoming more and more like the democrats evry day.

They are all for diversity and the Big Tent as long as no one in the tent disagrees with them.
