Berry Forest home invasion victim prayed; 4 charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault...

The victim of a home invasion near Stonebridge Golf Club prayed as he lay trussed on the floor by his wife.

That’s when one of his captors said he believed in Jesus too “and if you shut up nobody will get hurt.”

On Thursday the couple were recovering from bruises on their wrists and ankles — and four people from the Atlanta metro area were in jail, facing a slew of felony charges.

According to reports from the Rome Police Department and Floyd County Jail:

The four suspects were arrested in Chattooga County shortly after the Wednesday night attack, after neighbors came forward with a description of the getaway car and authorities broadcast a lookout.

Alicia Noel Tindle, 23, of 601 Ashley Place, Stone Mountain; Adrian Delloyd Mitchell, 37, of 60 Falls Crossing, Covington; Ryederius Barnard Ferrell, 27, of 6109 Cherokee Valley Highway, Lithonia; and Nikario Lannard Gresham, 30, of 517 Wabasha Ave., Atlanta, were being held in jail without bond Thursday night.

They are individually facing two counts each of kidnapping, aggravated assault and robbery, and single counts of home invasion, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving stolen property.

The victims are not being identified by the Rome News-Tribune.

The man told police he was standing in the driveway of his home in the Berry Forest subdivision when something hit him in the back of the head and he fell. When his assailant grabbed him around his neck and started dragging him toward the house, he yelled for his wife to run — but she didn’t have time.

Inside the house, the attacker grabbed the woman in the kitchen, pointed a gun at her and told the couple to get on the ground and not look at him. He then tied them up with string and a sheet.

The victims said the incident lasted about 10 minutes, in which they could hear people walking around their home. The captor detailed to guard them kept telling them to shut up and stay on their stomachs — after professing his belief in Jesus when the homeowner began to pray.

The couple heard the back door chime as if someone had left the house and, after hearing no more footsteps, the woman managed to get loose and call 911.

The robbers took the couple’s wedding bands, a black leather wallet, a red iPhone 6 and approximately $6,200 in cash.

Rome police Lt. Trixie Morgan said some of the stolen items were recovered, along with several weapons.

Investigators believe the home was targeted.

The woman told police that a strange woman and man came up to her front door in May and asked for some water to put in their car because it was running hot. She gave them water and they left.

Then, two weeks ago, the same woman came up to her door and again asked for water for her car. The woman responded that she was “not playing these games” and told her to leave. Right after that, the woman saw two men prowling around the yard. When she yelled at them to leave, they ran away.

On Wednesday, several witnesses in the neighborhood reported seeing two people leaving the area in an older-model car that had been parked for some time near the golfing crosswalk on Berry Forest Drive.

A Chattooga deputy spotted the car, a 1996 Mercury Marquis, and stopped it near an intersection of U.S. 27 and Ga. 114.

Update: Three men and one woman, all from the Atlanta area, remained in the Floyd County Jail Thursday morning after being accused of kidnapping and robbing a Rome couple in a home invasion, according to Floyd County Jail and Rome Police Department reports.

According to reports:

Alicia Noel Tindle, 23, of 601 Ashley Place, Stone Mountain; Adrian Delloyd Mitchell, 37, of 60 Falls Crossing, Covington; Ryederius Barnard Ferrell, 27, of 6109 Cherokee Valley Highway., Lithonia; and Nikario Lannard Gresham, 30, of 517 Wabasha Ave., Atlanta, were arrested Wednesday night at 9:45 p.m. after tying up and robbing a couple in the Berry Forest subdivision near Stonebridge Golf Club.

The four were arrested in Chattooga County after authorities put out a lookout for an older model gray or blue car with tinted windows and no hubcaps that had been parked near the golfing crosswalk on Berry Forest Drive at the time of the robbery.

The male victim told police he was standing in his driveway Wednesday evening and felt something hit him in the back of the head, causing him to fall over. A man grabbed him around his neck and started dragging him toward the house. The victim stated his phone fell out of his pocket and he yelled for his wife to run, but she didn’t have time.

The male suspect grabbed the wife in the kitchen and pointed a gun at her and told the couple to get on the ground and not look at him. The suspect then tied up both victims with string and a sheet.

The victims said they were tied up for about 10 minutes and could hear people walking around their home. Another male suspect who was watching them kept telling them to shut up and stay on their stomachs. When the male victim began to pray, the suspect told him that he “believed in Jesus too and if he shut up nobody would get hurt.”

The male victim told police he heard his back door chime as if someone had left. After waiting and hearing no more footsteps in the house, the female victim was able to get loose and call 911.

The female victim had marks on her wrists and ankles and the male still had string tied on his left arm and marks on his wrists from being tied up. Both said they saw two black guns that appeared to be flat and square.

Items missing were the couple’s wedding bands, a black leather wallet, a red iPhone 6 and approximately $6,200 in cash.

The female victim told police that in May, a woman and man came up to her front door and asked if they could have some water to put in their car because it was running hot. The victim said she gave them water and they left.

Then two weeks ago, the same woman came up to her door again and asked for more water for her car that was running hot. The victim told her she “was not playing these games” and told her to leave. Right after the woman left, the victim said she saw two males prowling around the side of the yard and yelled at them to leave. They ran away.

On Wednesday, several witnesses in the neighborhood reported seeing two people leaving the area in an older-model car.

A Chattooga deputy spotted the car, a 1996 Mercury Marquis, and stopped it near an intersection of U.S. 27 and Ga. 114.

Rome police Lt. Trixie Morgan said some of the stolen items were recovered, along with several weapons.

Ferrell, Mitchell, Gresham and Tindle are each charged with two counts of felony kidnapping and aggravated assault as well as felony home invasion, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime and theft by receiving.

Previously posted: Observant neighbors helped authorities nab a crew involved in a home invasion in the Berry Forest subdivision near Stonebridge Golf Club on Wednesday night.

According to Rome Police Lt. Trixie Morgan, officers got a call from a woman who said she had been tied up, people were in her home and she needed police to get there in a hurry.

“By the time we got there the perpetrators were gone but several people in the area, several residents, actually saw the people and gave us a very good description,” Morgan said.

The residents described two black men and a white woman who left the area in an older-model vehicle. The woman was first seen alone with the car. She told passersby that she was having car trouble and had called AAA.

“One gentleman actually saw the black males run away from the home,” Morgan said. “Two black males wearing hoodies got into the car with the female. They dropped the hood and then left.”

Authorities put out a lookout. A Chattooga County deputy spotted the vehicle and, with a Summerville police officer, stopped it near the intersection of U.S. 27 and Ga. 114.

Morgan said that some of the stolen items, including approximately $5,000 in cash, were recovered along with several weapons.

The suspects were still being processed as of deadline late Wednesday and their names and charges were unavailable.

That’s when one of his captors said he believed in Jesus too

That's an awful strange way of showing it.

“...as he lay trussed on the floor by his wife.”

That may be correct, but saying “next to his wife” would really make things more clear.

Glad these folks are OK.

“That’s when one of his captors said he believed in Jesus too “and if you shut up nobody will get hurt.”

Pretty sure that demons believe in Jesus, too. Doesn’t mean much.

There is more to this story than meets the eye.

$6200 is a lot of cash to have in a house. Most people keep their money in the bank, where Ryederius and Nikario have a harder time getting to it...

There are businesses where cash is needed. I don’t know if this couple were in such a business, though.

It's an unfortunate truth that really abused teenage girls don't think they are worthy of normal guys their own age.

In an attempt to demonstrate an emotional maturity and progressive attitude they confuse with intellect, they hook up with gangbangers and thugs looking for trophies. These poor girls actually believe 'If you love me you'll let me.' It's that or 40 year old dykes. Hell of a choice.
