Internet sales tax is a complicated issue. There is nothing in their nature which should make them exempt from taxation. However, administration of the tax is going to be extremely hard to implement without imposing huge burdens on small internet business who cannot afford to hire a professional accountant to keep track of all the tax law changes. I smell the AICPA behind this.
Any new tax these days are for growing government and nothing moreaside from attacking the family constantly, that is, which a growing government always does.
Article 4 Section 4 of the Constitution says that the federal government must “guarantee to the states a republican form of government”. That more than suggests that it should protect the states from a socialist form of government. Of course, given how socialist the federal government itself has gotten (thanks to the seventeenth amendment), that part of the constitution has not stood for a long time.
Big $$$ corporations like Walmarts and Amazon are pushing for this, and they give these treasonous Senators their orders, not us.
Amazon ALREADY collects state sales taxes for well over half the states.(including mine)
Why?
They have a physical presence in those states.(distribution centers)
The GOP really wants this to be their legacy of GOP control of congress? Collecting state tax enforcement across state lines?
I cant imagine voting in the 2016 general election if they pass this.
Well technically there always has been an Internet Tax, in the form of Use Taxes.
You do pay Use Taxes on your online purchases, right?
