U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said on Saturday that she did not use a private email account to send or receive classified information while she was secretary of state, in response to a government inspector's letter this week.
"I did not send nor receive anything that was classified at the time," Clinton said at a campaign stop in Iowa.
The email controversy has dogged Clinton's bid for the presidency, fuelling worries that the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination has tried to sidestep transparency and record-keeping laws.
At least four emails from the private email account that Clinton used while secretary of state contained classified information, Inspector General Charles McCullough, who oversees U.S. intelligence agencies, told members of Congress in a letter on Thursday.
Clinton said on Saturday she had "no idea" what were the emails mentioned in the letter.
McCullough's letter said a sampling of 40 of about 30,000 emails sent or received by Clinton found at least four that contained information the government had classified as secret.

Why hasn’t the prosecution started? If the intent is there, whats the difference between 4 and 3,000? Seems to be a holdup on Treason too.
Emails are by and large original content.
The originator has the obligation to recognise that the content is classified and transmit appropriately.
The fact that so much content was later classified clearly indicates there was no concern given to appropriate classification and security prior to transmission.
This would have been apparently inconvenient for the Secretary, therefore she just didn’t do it. Lazy gets people killed. And this was lazy. The very nature of her position required that she be in constant and regular contact with classified and even compartmented information. Her original thoughts on any such matter would necessitate classification, which it looks like she left for others to handle after the fact.
Question prompts for her in case there are any lurking media types who might actually get an interview...
1. Madam Secretary, during your tenure at State how many times would you estimate that an original email which you authored and transmitted was classified by you or your office prior to hitting send? To clarify, this is not about responding to previously classified information. This is about original content authored under your hand that was rightly and properly classified in real time.
2. What system was used for this purpose?
3. Will you release the State Deptartment to confirm that you actually had access to and in fact used a properly classified system for original emails of such a nature?

Pipe dreams I know. No one will ever ask. And if they did the answer would be a deflection to State to check their archives.
Even aside from the classified angle, isn’t it a violation of federal records law pertaining to preservation of e-mail to simply never to use an official government account ?

How can people NOT see this in her....I was standing in a line at the supermarket the other day and these two ladies were talking about some ‘rag’ they were looking at, which I noticed was about Hillary, and they both said she is being set up....
What does it take to have people realize that this woman is a LIAR!!! Sorry, but this is sooo frustrating...
She has shown an extremely uncaring attitude about Communications Security, and that is just deadly for the people out on the ground.
Did her lax attitude provide the information necessary to hit us at Benghazi?
Did four Americans die because of her negligence?
Sounds correct to me. They keep letting Hillary split hairs and change the narrative. The question is, if this is the only email account she ever used she had to have done something with classified material. It is part of her job. Not to mention the others on her email server who probably never had clearance(Huma).
Of most importance is that she feels the need to respond to this latest allegation. She is feeling heat.
