A black woman found dead in a Texas jail days after she was arrested following a traffic stop will be buried on Saturday in a Chicago suburb as investigators gather more details about the circumstances of her incarceration and death.
The funeral for Sandra Bland, 28, will be held at DuPage African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lisle, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, followed by burial in a nearby cemetery.

...she had become a civil rights activist in Chicago, and a part of the Black Lives Matter campaign....
I wonder how long she’d been in Texas.
Wasn’t the young lady in the McKinney, TX swimming pool brouhaha a recent transplant from Chicago, as well?
We’ve been seeing a lot of Illinois plates on the TX highways, of late. More than other plates, and much more than usual.
The woman, despite her arrogance, had severe mental issues too. Nobody wanted her dead, she made her own poor choices.
No need for an investigation, or subsequent trial(s) by jury, on this. Sounds like you've got it all figured out. /s
I find it interesting that no one of Sandra Bland’s family or friends bailed her out of jail for THREE days. That abandonment by those people who are now claiming she was murdered likely caused her to commit suicide.
So, you approve of policemen out of their jurisdiction trolling for girls to pull over?
It always amazes me how some of our FR people are so clairvoyant that they know just what people are thinking. Truly amazing talent.
If you watch the full video, you see the Texas state trooper, on a college campus, pulling over two young women, one of which is Sandra Bland.
To pull over Bland, he spins a U-ey, then zooms up behind her, as if he's on his way to a call. He then tails her till he forces her traffic error, then pops his lights.
She actually says to him that she was just trying to get out of his way.
Given all the different laws they have now about impeding police, and moving over to avoid police by the side of the road, it's understandable to be unsure of whether you're doing the correct thing when they're around.
I'm beginning to think that I might start my own little protest, by just pulling over when one of the multitudes of shiny police cars comes into view, and getting out and pretending to make a cell phone call.
Since our Blue & Brown masters are somewhat allergic to cell phones these days, maybe it will act as repellent. :)
When Officer Friendly was hitting on the first young woman in the video, I kind of threw up in my mouth a little.
I think his bosses did, too - which is probably why he got suspended, and is being investigated.
He was in someone else's jurisdiction playing his little "warning ticket" game.
He should have kept it to the county roads, and the interstate.
She hanged herself with a trash bag.
Regardless of who's fault it was, and both displayed some, why do you seem to automatically take the side of the supposed victim?
Because in this instance I actually watched the whole video, and saw what was going on.
I'm familiar with college towns.
"Campus Safety" or the equivalent, takes care of business on the college campus. The other law enforcement branches stay away unless they're called.
I want to know what this guy was doing on campus. From the reaction of his superiors, I think I know.
Truly clairvoyant!
The reports I heard said she *first ran a stop sign then she made a *left turn without a signal . If an officer sees you run a stop sign they will pull you over. Then it is in your best interest to be polite and do what he asks you to do. If he says get out of your car, you just do it. I heard her argue with the officer, that will get you into a jail cell.
Yeah, she was a MOUTHY piece of work, wasn't she?
He still "zoomed" her into the traffic stop, so she was right to call "BS".
I'm getting sick of minding my Ps & Qs when one of the multitudes of shiny police cars is cruising in my vicinity.
"Anything you do can and will be used to pull you over."
I guess you're one of the "Proudly Posting Without Reading The Article" brigade. LOL! :)
Is it possible, just a little possible....considering what we know now, that when the officer returned to the car he may have recognized her speech, behavior, aggression as being erratic and felt he should do a further evaluation, looking for inebriation, drugs? OR he could have let her go and she could have gone down the street and killed a family.
Obviously, he was right.....she had substantial amount of marijuana in her system and serious mental health issues. She even told him she had epilepsy, so was he suppose to turn her loose on the public when he was uncertain of her condition? This is ridiculous.
If he says get out of your car, you just do it. I heard her argue with the officer, that will get you into a jail cell.
Some folks don’t get that part :-/
99.9% of people with any sense know that. I am convinced that this woman took advantage of her suicidal tendencies to become a martyred victim for her misguided cause.
Since our Blue & Brown masters are somewhat allergic to cell phones these days, maybe it will act as repellent. :)
Blue and Brown Masters? Wow.
A Texas state trooper was giving a young woman a traffic warning on a college campus. After concluding that traffic stop, Bland must have caught his eye, because he executed a U-turn on the college main drag, and zoomed up on her tail.
When they came to a double lane area a half block further on, she got into the right lane, to get out of his way.He then popped his lights, because "she didn't signal a lane change". It was a chickenscheisse stop.
I've had police do similar things to me, and have seen them do similar things to other drivers.
The interesting thing to me is what he was doing in the jurisdiction of the campus cops. This town and college campus is Bugtussle class.
