A successful vote to repeal before January 2017 will be vetoed and would be simply a symbolic gesture.

If there were a vote to drop the mandate but keep Obamacare for those who want it, next to nobody could vote against it and be re-elected.

Until that happens, we're just all "pawns in their game".

Yep. How many votes have they already had? There were so many I’ve lost count.

B.S.

Their constituents sent them there to fight. If leadership gets in the way or Obama gets in the way, it is not a wasted effort as it puts everyone on record and makes it easier to get rid of the useless traitors in our midst come Primary time.

Agreed. I want that terrible law repealed, but I want it gone forever, not just a teasing game of make-believe followed by a veto.

“A successful vote to repeal before January 2017 will be vetoed and would be simply a symbolic gesture.”

A real opposition party would relish the opportunity to force their opponents to take a vote on an issue highly unpopular with the people. A real opposition party would then use that vote as a hammer in the next election.

A fake opposition party declines to put its opponents on the spot.

Symbolic gestures can sometimes be extremely powerful and set the stage for real action.

On the other hand, the vote will not only force Democrats to take a position, it will force Republicans to stand up and be counted --- and that may be the primary benefit.
