Actually, the discrimination that exists is based not on race, but age and attire.
Throughout history, everyone knows that young males can be a bit on the wild side.
If I’m heading down the street and on one side is a bunch of white adolescent boys dressed poorly (whether it’s hoodies, pants halfway down, or just ripped up jeans and t-shirts) and on the other side is middle-age black men in suits, I’m going down the black side every time.
I remember my own adolescence (a white one) dressed as a bit of a punk, and running into police who always prefaced the encounter with “I’m responding to a complaint/call...”.
The bottom line is, young punks make folks nervous and they call the cops on you. This is why they show up, not because their picking on you for race.
Of course. One side are black men in suits, ties and walking with purpose and one side are white teenagers, walking slowly, looking around, dressed in disgusting clothes and full of tattoos and having no purpose to their little stroll? Guess which side I’m on?!
