A GOP-controlled Senate panel has voted to lift a decades-long ban on travel to Cuba, giving a boost to President Barack Obama’s moves to ease travel restrictions and open up relations with the Castro-governed nation.

The Senate Appropriations Committee also voted to block enforcement of a law prohibiting banks and other U.S. businesses from financing sales of U.S. agricultural exports to Cuba.

The Obama administration issued rules in January to significantly ease travel restrictions to Cuba and allow regularly scheduled flights for the first time. The Senate Appropriations Committee 18-12 vote comes just days after the U.S. and Cuba formally ended more than a half-century of estrangement by re-establishing diplomatic relations cut off during the Cold War. …

GOP-controlled Senate panel votes to lift Cuba travel ban

I personally think travel and trade with Cuba is the fastest way to destroy that Communist dictatorship, but I cannot help but feel that this move, coming as it does in a manner so as to appear to support Obama, is a back stab.

Could they lick Obama’s boots any better?

This is not Reagan’s GOP.

Reagan stood against communism.

Reagan stood for freedom.

This GOP really seems to stand for statism.

This news really is discouraging.

May something better rise from the ashes.

“Is there anything they won’t do for Obama?”

No there isn’t and they already did the other two we won’t mention.

"We have the opportunity to increase the likelihood that Cuban people have greater liberties and freedom with the ability to connect with them," said sponsor Jerry Moran, R-Kan.

Jerry Moran, Obama rent boy.

I saw John Bolton on Fox this morning and he said that the Cuban Army owns all the hotels in Cuba. Pay for a hotel room ... you pay the Cuban Army.

“I personally think travel and trade with Cuba is the fastest way to destroy that Communist dictatorship . . .”

Sending them modern “country music” or just about anything from our post-post-modern entertainment industry would hasten their demise.

The move to “normalize” relations with Cuba means, if I'm not mistaken, some U.S. or U.S.-backed international loans to enable Cuba to buy food stuffs and to build infrastructure.

Later, it will be discovered the poor, developing country of Cuba can't repay the massive loans to the oppressive neighbor to the north. The only socially just thing to do will be for U.S. taxpayers to forgive the loans to the communist government, er, I mean the warm Cuban people.

Did travel and trade with Red China destroy their communist dictatorship? It strengthened it, rather. Just like what Obama intends to do here.

Did travel and trade with Red China destroy their communist dictatorship?

It's funny that you should mention that, because it is exactly China of which I was thinking when I made my comments.

It strengthened it, rather. Just like what Obama intends to do here.

I ask you to reach back in your memory and recall the events occurring in China prior to Tienanmen square. China was relaxing communist rule, Capitalism was flourishing, people were embracing new found freedoms, and we were slowly turning that Communist state into a capitalistic freedom loving place.

And then Western Left Wing Liberal Journalists started agitating the people there to Demand More! They told them they didn't have to put up with restrictions on their freedom, and they sowed sedition amongst the young populace.

Had every Western Left Wing Liberal Journalist from elsewhere been rounded up and shot, China would have continued making progress toward's freedom, but these Left Wing Liberal Journalists pushed people into confronting the regime, and if you know anything at all about Asian sensibilities, the one thing they will *NOT* tolerate is a loss of face.

The Western Left Wing Liberal Journalists whom the world would have been better off without, provoked a clash that was as unnecessary as it was a tragedy. The leadership in China *HAD* to respond because to allow the provoked dissidents to get away with it would humiliate them, and that was simply not tolerable.

What those Western Left Wing Liberal Journalists who sowed sedition did, was change the normal path of history. If events had been allowed to progress in a normal manner, China would have eventually become far less authoritarian, but what these Western Left Wing Liberal Journalists did was to wake up the Communist leadership to the danger they faced from freedom, and they have been wary of it ever since.

No more will they allow another such opportunity as that which China would have had were it not for those Western Left Wing Liberal Journalists ruining people's futures by opening their big F***ing mouths.

No, China never, ever relaxed communist rule. They were never going to relax its iron grip. Can’t blame Western liberal journalists on that; can only blame our trade with them.
  1. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. …
  1. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

  2. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the UN. …
These are goals of the communists, from Skousen’s book entered into the Congressional record back in 1963. Are you really saying that Xinhua and the “western liberal left-wing journalists” were working against each other?

  1. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, and policymaking positions.

  2. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV and motion pictures. …
Two more Communist goals. So would the “western left-wing liberal journalists” be working against Chinese state-run Xinhua, People’s Daily, CCTV et al—or for them?
