ABC’S THE NOTE: TRUMP ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF ‘EXTRAORDINARILY POWERFUL ISSUE’
Breitbart Big Government ^ | July 23,2015 | Rick Klein

Posted on 07/23/2015 4:31:22 PM PDT by Hojczyk

At ABC’s The Note, Rick Klein writes:

“We can only speculate about what kinds of props or insults Donald Trump is bringing with him to the Texas-Mexico border today. But the new ABC News/Washington Post poll out Thursday suggests the extent to which he may not need them. Roughly half of Republicans in the poll oppose a path to legalization for undocumented immigrants – and Trump gets support from a third of those voters.

Think about that: In a 16-person field, the idea that any candidate could get 34 percent of that large a slice of potential voters suggests an extraordinarily powerful issue.”

Not a Trump fan here, but I'll say again what I've said since he entered the race: both political parties ignore him at their own peril.

Trump has tapped into a very wide swath of not just Republicans, but also Blue Collar/Blue Dog Democrats that carried Ronald Reagan to sweeping victories.

Want to see real panic from both political parties? Wait until the liberal lamestream media catches up with that little fact above. You will see hysteria from the GOP-E and Democrat liberal progressives like we've never seen before.

That's going to be fun to watch when it happens.

Legal’s hate the illegals..

That's true. I teach a naturalization class for persons planning on taking the test. Civics and US History. Those that are doing it the legal way do NOT appreciate the illegals.

Then why do Hispanics overwhelmingly vote for the party of amnesty?

I’m warming up to Trump pretty quickly here.

Have you watched his actual speeches, pressers, and interviews?

He comes across as quite impressive and very sincere.

Because they’re already a majority on some sort of dole, they came from Leftist countries and 100% of them are beneficiaries of affirmative action.

The real question is why the other candidates didn't capitalize on the opportunity. Immigration, legal and illegal, affects every major challenge facing this country.

Why are we importing 1.2 million legal permanent immigrants a year and 640,000 guest workers annually while we have the lowest labor participation rates in 38 years? Fewer native born Americans are working today than in 2000 despite an increase of 25 million in the workforce, two thirds of whom are the native born.

Why haven't the other candidates highlighted the trail of death and destruction wrought by illegal aliens? GAO did a 71 page study in 2011 detailing the statistics including 55,000 criminal aliens in federal prisons and 296,000 in state and local jails? It was costing1.3 billion a year in incarceration costs. Over 3 million crimes were committed including 25,000 jailed for homicide.

Instead, the MSM, Dems, and the GOPe paint a benign, sympathetic picture of the lawbreakers who left millions of American victims in their wake. Trump is just stating the obvious and it comes as a surprise that it is resonating.

I've seen a few of his speeches and I agree that he comes off as sincere.

Trump's major problem is that he's said so many things over the years that he often contradicts himself.

Remember, this is the guy who said he supported nationalized health care then complained Obamacare didn't go far enough.

Its hard to explain (or even keep track of ...) his flip/flops over the years. I think that'll eventually catch up to him. What's fueling his momentum right now IMO is what he said during a recent interview with Anderson Cooper (?) in which he said very emphatically that the American Public doesn't trust the media.

That's true. I had seen either a Gannett or Rasmussen poll not long ago that showed more than 70% of the American Public doesn't trust the "mainstream news."

As I said, Trump has his finger firmly on the pulse of a large majority of the American electorate. Do I think he's sincere? Yes. For now. Color me skeptical with a healthy dose of I don't like a single candidate running on the Republican side. (Voting for a Democrat is something I'd NEVER consider.)

One word: PANDERING.

Republicans mistakenly believe that if they just play nice and go along with the Democrats on immigration that somewhow that will translate into votes for them.

The problem with that thinking is that it ignores the cultural socio-economic reality of hispanics and latin american's who in their own country, view the Government as the source of all wealth and prosperity.

When they come here, that thinking DOES NOT CHANGE.

The sooner Republican's (the "stupid party") recognizes that fact and adopt your recommendation that they capitalize on the illegal immigration issue the better off they'd be.

But they're too stupid to actually think and look at the cultural socio-economic reality from which hispanics and latin american's lived under prior to coming here.

Then again, that's why I call the Republican's the "stupid party."

Wrong. The GOPe wants the flow of cheap labor, legal and illegal, continue to flow to satisfy their corporate paymasters who help fund their campaigns. Groups like the Chamber of Commerce and Americans for Prosperity could care less about the voters. The corporate elites own both parties.

He’s not a professional pol and he lives in a very liberal city and state. I can take Trump’s sometimes half-thought and turned around positions better than I can Scott Walker two years ago advocating citizenship for illegals already here—and then virtual open borders, by wanting to allow everyone from “Mexico or any other country in the world” who wants to come here to do so legally, so they won’t have to bother coming here illegally. Yeah, as a typical calculating pol Walker’s trying to make noises about how he’d somehow consider jobs for Americans as he goes about his immigration policy—but we know full well where Walker really stands, and where his funders are confident he stands.

Compared to that sort of ish, a big-time businessman who has spouted off sometimes moderate views over the previous decades doesn’t so much bother me. After all, he was a Reagan supporter back in the 80s.

The usual GOPe players (and even the supposedly more conservative folks, like Cruz) are heavily dependent on the pro-amnesty business lobby.

Trump isn’t.

Actually, I think it's both. They're pandering for the votes and as you accurately said, they want the flow of cheap labor to continue to satisfy their corporate paymasters.

Having worked on this issue as a grassroots lobbyist for 8 years, you are wrong about the votes issue. They want amnesty to make the issue go away just like they are happy with the SCOTUS decision on gay marriage and have no problem with Roe versus Wade.
