This is just silly and does not even bear reporting let alone time to comment on it...

I sleep under a sheet only, and most times not even that, year round. Only thing that ever gets cold are my toes. Mr Kitty has to have a minimum of 2 blankets. My internal engine goes into overdrive when I’m sleeping.

My husband and I have the opposite problem, and I’ve always gotten hot more easily than my brother.

When a woman gets to be a certain age, they welcome the AC and will freeze out their male counterparts without noticing.

You are describing my workplace. We are all women but are at the mercy of one female who is experiencing her own personal "heat wave". LOL!

I am sympathetic. I worked in an office where the boss liked to crank the air down to 64 all summer long. Ever since working there I’ve started to have a lot of upper respiratory problems when there is too much air conditioning.

That being said, I wasn’t the boss, and it was not my building.

Once in my twenties, I worked in an office of women in their forties and fifties. My teeth would be chattering while they all sat there fanning themselves.

I vowed that would never happen to me. Well. so much for that vow. :-)

I don’t get the point. Is there a problem?

At least you can put a sweater on. You can only take so many clothes off and remain employed!!!

There’s no need to turn this into a drama about sexism. Just deal with it.

I agree.

Although I will say that I used to work in an office were the thermostat was kept so low during the summer that not only did I have to wear a sweater but also resorted to wearing knit gloves with the finger tips cut off. And I was not wearing flimsy outfits but mostly business casual – polo shirts or quarter sleeve length blouses and slacks, some days even jeans.

The last place I worked, and it was a relatively new building, it seemed that the HVAC contractor was there every other week. One part of the office would be sweltering and the other would be frigid, they never could figure out how to get it “balanced”. There another problem was that there was a vent right over my cubicle and cold air would blow right down my neck and I started wearing cotton scarves to keep my neck from getting stiff.

But I will add that running a space heater while the AC is running, doesn’t sound like a good idea and the last two places I worked they were not allowed even in winter.

Back in the day when I was fat (and before PC was everywhere), I’d respond with:

“Well, you can always put more clothes on. But do you really want to see me all day with mine off?”

Haha, just the opposite in my house. I’m home all day with the little one, working around the house most of the time cleaning, cooking, whatnot. I keep the air on 74 during the day and sometimes I’m still on the warm side. When I was pregnant every now and then i’d bump the air down to 70. Poor hubby was cold. We both are usually comfortable with 73 overnight though. The little one’s room is 73 at night. He wears lightweight, full length & footed jammies. When i check on him he’s sprawled out so I figure he’s pretty comfy too.

If this article is about office temperatures in government buildings and the comfort of government bureaucrats:

1. the gremlins better appreciate the coldness now because their ultimate destination is going to be warmer.

2. it’s all that pornography the men are watching that keeps up their body temperatures.

3. I can sympathize with the women: I can’t wait for winter so we can turn the heat back on.

70 IS fine! Back when I was working at JFK Airport, the guys kept the office at 60! I was the only gal in the office, and I begged them to turn down the A/C

No amount of talking could convince them that 60 degrees was just too cold. I froze my butt off.

Regards,

PS: Another FReeper upthread suggested that the guys just wanted to see nipples. I’m not sure I can argue with that. And NO, I was not dressed for the beach. Oh, and BTW, if it was wintertime, the temp was a comfortable 72 in the office. So...72 was fine in February but too hot for July. SMH.

LOL, if you see my post at #56, I had the exact opposite problem when I worked in an office.

Men dress for work. Too many women go to work half naked. Of course they are going to be cold. They should accept that the office is not a place to be trolling for husbands. I understand that restaurants are apt to be quite chilly and do not go to one without a jacket, just in case.
