Video: Elderly vet protesting Obama at VFW speech gets manhandled for … holding up a sign

Not manhandled by security, I should note, but manhandled by two fellow vets. And I’m not exaggerating in using that word: They’re shockingly rough with a guy who looks to be in his mid-70s. A broken hip will learn the old-timer not to go mouthing off about Benghazi, I guess.

Kind of surprised to find two Obama fans this ardent at a VFW gathering, to be honest.

Perhaps reflecting mixed feelings about the president among veterans, Obama often drew tepid applause, especially for comments about his nuclear deal with Iran. He did, however, receive a rousing ovation after calling for the release of five Americans, including Marine veteran Amir Mirza Hekmati and Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian, being held by the Iranian government.

“These Americans need to be back home with their families,” he said.

Early in the speech, a protester held up a sign about the attack in Benghazi, Libya, that left U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead. Fellow VFW members ripped the sign out of his hand, and a police officer removed him after the protester shouted “Benghazi” a several times.

Was this some sort of breach of VFW decorum, i.e. a retired soldier’s not supposed to talk back to the commander-in-chief? Why can’t an American citizen who’s no longer on active duty protest silently? I don’t get why they’re so aggressive with him.

As a member of the VFW, I am deeply embarrassed that they would invite that crapwad to speak, and appalled that anyone showed up.

The fact that NO ONE helped that gentleman is disturbing at the very least.

The fact that the majority of the vets there didn’t stand up and turn their back to the clown in cheif is even more distressing.

Yes, that is exactly how NBC portrayed it: it was specifically their link on Facebook.

If I recover the link, I’ll post it here.

I don’t know how the VFW vets could stomach Obola’s disgraceful presence.

Probably because they're Leftists...

The older gentleman protester was definitely handled dishonorably rough. I don’t know how the VFW vets could stomach Obola’s disgraceful presence.

Probably SEIU goons dressed as veterans, there for "security."

Yep, and they had to bring in older guys to look like they belong. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that one or all three are not really vets.

Exactly.

Guess we will see more of the same at the American Legion convention later this summer.

There are 2 WFW groups here in my town. My husband is a life member of the one, but he hasn’t been gone to the meetings or functions for probably 15 years or more. Used to belong to the Lady’s Auxiliary

There is an American Legion Hall near me. It’s lock, stock and barrel a Democrat Club before it’s anything to do with veterans. If you put on Fox New people start screaming and threatening to leave -I am not exaggerating! In four years I’ve never seen an active duty soldier under 42 y.o. in the place...I’ve known that guy and he’s no democrat. He considered running for Commander, but he would never pass the political litmus test.

I’ve tried to help with some drainage issues at the property related to an adjacent State property, I’m a civil engineer. I ask: “Did you contact this state agency?” They say: “Yah, we talk to them, they didn’t do anything.” I ask: “Did you do that in writing?” Answer: “No..!!” Me: “Well you need to!” Response is bluster: “We’ll call State (Dem) Rep. so and so.” Me: “Ok, well good luck with that.” (Never resolved.)

The place is dying for lack of membership with the current crop of elders...hate to say this, but it should.

I hear you...
As a disabled vet, it’s sad but they need me, I don’t need them....
