Considering where Milwaukee is and the fact that there is a cougar population in Michigan, it may not be a “pet”.

I think she is basing her analysis on its size and how obviously well-fed he seems to be.

At least they are admitting to the lion's existence. Here in CT, DEEP denied it, until one was dead from a car strike.

We have one in our neighborhood. It was confirmed with a call when it jumped across road in front of my car last spring. Apparently she had twins shortly after. This year there have been several sightings

An animal doesn’t have to be a pet to be well fed.
Coyotes come into town and eat house pets and squirrels in my area. You do see fat coyotes.

We had endless denials by the state ....and a couple of threads about it.
My friend, while building their home on Avon Mountain [suburbia] took a pic of one running through her lot. Best part was that it had a radio collar on it.......state still denied it. LOL
Be careful out there! Maybe it'll cut down on the coyote population.

It has here. Also deer. We live in state forest. National forest nearby. Several rivers meandering through. Plenty of space and food. We have an eagle nest close which is snacking on the small pets (cats and puppies) More complaints about them

They kind of have too. Keep in mind the police shot one dead in the city of Chicago four years back. They traced that one back with DNA to the Black Hills of SD. Prior to that the IL officials kept saying the same thing: escaped pet.
I think that is also where the one killed in Greenwich came from too if I remember correctly. About 2 months back someone here in NH, right on the VT border captured footage of a cougar on a trail camera. Of course, the state of NH folks said that there was no proof it was taken in NH.
It seems that these young MALE cougars will wonder thousands of miles looking to establish their own territory. They are looking for the potential Mrs. Young Cougar. It is natures way.
