Be very, very careful: After seeing video, big cat expert thinks Milwaukee Lion is a cougar, and a pet
MILWAUKEE Since receiving an initial call on Monday, July 20th regarding a possible lion near Garfield and Palmer in Milwaukee, MPD has taken about two dozen calls from concerned citizens who say theyve seen the lion. MPD says all reported sightings have been on the citys north side and officers have investigated each call. So far, nothing has been found. Is it possible the Milwaukee Lion is in someones basement? Thats what one large cat expert says could be the case. Not because its hiding there but because thats its home.
The possible lion in Milwaukee was captured on video but only for a couple of seconds.
One exotic feline expert says that video could contain the clues that could help solve this mystery.
Jill Carnegie has been taking care of big cats for the last 43 years at Valley of the Kings.
We only have 10 acres, but everybody fits. We just take in the misfits from all over, Carnegie said.
Valley of the Kings is home for dozens of exotic felines.
While not on her property Carnegie says she knows exactly what has been seen in Milwaukee.
I feel very confident it is a male cougar. You tell by the size. Its a very well-fed cougar, Carnegie said.

Considering where Milwaukee is and the fact that there is a cougar population in Michigan, it may not be a “pet”.

I think she is basing her analysis on its size and how obviously well-fed he seems to be.
We have one in our neighborhood. It was confirmed with a call when it jumped across road in front of my car last spring. Apparently she had twins shortly after. This year there have been several sightings
An animal doesn’t have to be a pet to be well fed.
Coyotes come into town and eat house pets and squirrels in my area. You do see fat coyotes.
My friend, while building their home on Avon Mountain [suburbia] took a pic of one running through her lot. Best part was that it had a radio collar on it.......state still denied it. LOL
Be careful out there! Maybe it'll cut down on the coyote population.
It has here. Also deer. We live in state forest. National forest nearby. Several rivers meandering through. Plenty of space and food. We have an eagle nest close which is snacking on the small pets (cats and puppies) More complaints about them
Your friend trapped and collared that cougar near Banff???

They kind of have too. Keep in mind the police shot one dead in the city of Chicago four years back. They traced that one back with DNA to the Black Hills of SD. Prior to that the IL officials kept saying the same thing: escaped pet.
I think that is also where the one killed in Greenwich came from too if I remember correctly. About 2 months back someone here in NH, right on the VT border captured footage of a cougar on a trail camera. Of course, the state of NH folks said that there was no proof it was taken in NH.
It seems that these young MALE cougars will wonder thousands of miles looking to establish their own territory. They are looking for the potential Mrs. Young Cougar. It is natures way.
I’d hit that.
No,no,no,I’d hit it.
Meow. You'd have to stand in line
