I’m 100 percent anti-confederacy. I think it was an evil movement to its core. I don’t think the confederate flag, battle or otherwise, should fly over any government building in this country.
That being said, people need to chill out with the defacement of monuments. It’s ISIS-esque.

To varying degrees, the early republic was morally problematic. There is a big difference between that, however, and between a political ideology whose sole function is not only the preservation of enslavement of the black race, but the expansion of slavery as far and wide as possible. Yes, the confederacy—as a political movement and as a guiding ideology—was evil. I would expand on this to say its architects and its leaders were also evil.
