Imagine if you will you were crafting the perfect presidential candidate. It's likely the following would not be on your list: two-time divorcee with multiple bankruptcies; bombastic reality television star who has appeared on professional wrestling shows; loud-mouth uncensored ego maniac with questionable hair.
In other words, Donald Trump.
But among the 2016 GOP presidential nominees, it's Trump that's taking the headlines. It's Trump who has people talking. And, most tellingly, it's Trump who is surging in the polls, with the latest numbers showing him with almost twice the support of his closest rival.
Why? There a several reasons.
First, Trump a billionaire populist if there is such a thing is appealing to those who feel their views have been trampled on in the last seven years.
Concerned about immigration? Trump will build a wall at the Mexican border.
Fearful of China's growth? Trump said he will played hard ball with the country, just as he's done in his years of business negotiations.
Think the economy is headed in the wrong direction? Trump has an answer: "I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created."
As a candidate, Trump is saying the kinds of things that many Americans want to hear. And as a skilled marketer, the TV pitchman knows exactly who is audience is and what topics will keep them coming back for more. The man with all the money is representing everyman now and people who brushed Trump off as buffoon are seeing him as the only one representing their interests.
And that brings us to the second thing.
Trump is saying what the people want to hear. He's also saying those things because no one else seems to be saying much at all.
The GOP presidential field is packed with people who sound alike and, except for instances like when Ted Cruz or Rand Paul really gets going aren't really saying anything that connects with too many Americans. If you don't think that's true try this: what's Scott Walker's position on ISIS? Chris Christie on the economy? Jeb Bush on working with Congress? Marco Rubio on judicial activism? Bobby Jindal on, well, anything?
They are saying things of course but it's all getting lost in the cacophony of the Republican field. Trump stands out, even if it's in a way that not everyone agrees with. Voters may not support Trump's entire message but they are thrilled to have a politician who has something to say beyond "let's all work together to make America great" (see Bernie Sanders for the Democrat's version.)
Even when he goes too far, something he certainly did with his statements about ex-POW Sen. John McCain, voters seem willing to overlook the missteps in appreciation of someone making any move at all.
Will Trump win the White House? Probably not. But whether you like him or hate him, Trump has struck a nerve with American voters and you can bet they will expect the eventual GOP nominee to do the same.
Trumps success is owing to just as many low information voters on the right as on the left.
Exactly!
He is saying what most people have been intimidated from saying.
Trump is still playing the everyman and has been since “The Art of the Deal”.
Jeb struck a nerve with me when he said that illegal aliens breaking our laws sneaking into our country is an act of love. He could try that again.
Bingo
I ping you to this just to watch your eyes cross.
ARE people afraid to say the emperor has no clthes? For some reason they are.
By the way, both of his MLM companies, Trump Network and ACN, went belly up in short order
By the way, which MLM company do you distribute for? Amway? Mona Vie? The one that sells a health juice that tastes like grape juice mixed with teriyaki?
They are still around? I heard they flopped like Trump Network. How big is your downline?
He is traveling to border to spend time with BP agents. Short will not be happy!
You sure know a lot of the lingo for someone who is not involved in network marketing. Were you in that Trump company? Is that why you hate him so, because he wouldn’t come to your neighborhood and help you sell? LOL
So, do you do it?
Trump has hit on a few things: 1. We are absolutely furious about illegal immigration; 2. We despise John McCain; 3. We are tired of manginas that pander to the media. Trump fights back. After Bush and Boehner, we are looking for someone who will kick his opponents (the criminal liberal news media and liberal republicans) in the teeth.
If you do not understand what is going on by now. let me explain. It is Trump against the Uniparty, the MSM, and the huge body of Marxists that has taken over the country. The situation we find ourselves in is the end of the line. If the colluding forces above are not stopped this time around we are toast. I do not share the fear of those that think Trump is a stoolie. Who else is financially independent and capable of killing the multi-headed monster? Because the powers that be can not control him they are going crazy, resorting to invectives all over the place. What else have they got? All the others have to rely on Party funding and crony capitalist funding to stay alive in the race, wherein they become their puppets.
