Absolutely. Unfortunately many people are virtually threatened by their employers if they don't contribute to United Way so their companies can brag about their contributions.
March of Dimes is a shocker, given their “mission”.

Just give directly to your church or a charity where you know the money stays there.
Actually with United Way, when it was so popular, I believe you could designate the ministry.

OMG! United Way has been dreadful on many levels for decades. Once my H.R. Director informed me that I’d be the United Way Coordinator for our office. I refused. She said I was being insubordinate and could be disciplined. I said, “Whatever; do what you have to do.” She backed off.
Yes. It's why conservatives should choose their charities and groups individually and support them in that way.
