Why Donald Trump Didn't Run as a Democrat
Real clear politics ^ | July 21, 2015 | Carl Cannon

Posted on 07/21/2015 4:36:34 PM PDT by Sola Veritas

Maria Konnikova is not someone Donald Trump would typically describe as “a loser.” Fluent in Russian and English, she writes authoritatively on psychology and culture. Her work has appeared in prestigious publications ranging from The Atlantic to Scientific American. After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard, she received her Ph.D. in psychology from Columbia University.

Four years ago, Konnikova wrote a piece for a publication called Big Think, postulating that Trump’s perpetual boorishness is attributable to mental illness, specifically a condition called narcissistic personality disorder.

History professor Jelani Cobb, writing in The New Yorker, focused on another facet of The Donald’s persona. “[I]n all the ways that matter, save actual performing, Donald Trump is not a politician—he’s a rapper,” Cobb postulated. “If elected, he’s less likely to represent George W. Bush’s third term than Kanye West’s first one.”

“Don’t blame Trump because your boy’s soft-spoken routine isn’t capturing the public.”

That is because Senator Cruz isn’t a self-serving exhibitionist as Trump is. I don’t like indulging in “conspiracy theories.” That being said, I must wonder if Trump isn’t intentionally wrecking the GOP primary to set up Mrs. Clinton. Trump HAS backed her big time in the past. Folks - SUPPORT FOR TRUMP IS SUPPORT FOR CLINTON!

Hey, there are folks here on FR that are much better at defending the Senator from the Great State of Texas than I am. I will let them.

All the mindless nut-jobs on the Left, and she has to figure Trump out. Honestly, when does this never-ending onslaught from the left get seen for what it is?

This presentation causes me to come to two conclusions. This woman could use a good work-up herself, and a lot of FReepers should join her for a group-discount.

Guys like Trump and Rush Limbaugh have larger than life personalities. It’s their livelihood. They market themselves. It’s part of their business image.

This is not a sign of some mental disorder. It’s merely a sign of a person with extreme drive. And folks, in many instances it’s a sign of nothing more than being a very successful Capitalist.

This woman markets herself also. The only thing is, she hasn’t been as successful at it as Trump and Limbaugh.

Perhaps a 12 step program on envy is in order...

What does it matter what Donald Trump is as long as he speaks on the issues and presents a clear distinction between the liberal agenda and the conservative agenda.... I am sick of voting for parties and being told I have to go along to get along...Let the other Conservatives in this primary group start speaking out and loudly defending their Conservative beliefs as Ronald Reagan put it raise a banner of bold colors, no pale pastels...

When you have the media blaring your message at top volume 24/7 and not asking any questions you don't like, I'd say it's easy.

Also, all of the sudden Trump supporters find these polls totally reliable, although usually they are treated with skepticism?

“Don’t forget, Donaldomaximus also donated to his possible opponet, Hillary Clintonista.”

You notice how Trump has lambasted nearly every Republican in the race and even Republicans who are not running for President and remains mum when it comes to potential opponents like Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders?

it seems to me he is one person who could beat Hillary in the D primary

The modern Democratic party wants a racial socialist, or a white communist.

There is zero chance Trump could come within ten miles of the Democratic nomination.

Except that Trump has done more for the victims of illegal immigration in the last 6 weeks than all the other candidates combined.

It is easy to ignore the thousands of victims butchered by illegal immigration and to cavalierly pontificate. In the time that Trump has been on the scene he has provided momentum for Kate’s law and for congressional hearings on the gruesome deaths for the victims of illegal immigration. All this because of Trump.

And for all your pontificating you have done what to help these people?

“We are sick and tired of voting for the lesser of two evils, and have no doubt.”

Trump is EVIL. Even the devil will say what you want to hear. Don’t be so gullible to believe him.

I damn well HOPE he won’t be Jorge’s third term. The Bushes have been an unmitigated disaster. They created the environment for Obama’s triumph and helped provide the tools he is using to destroy us. They were and are flunkies of international crony capitalists. Jorge was the worst President on defending our borders until the current half-wit took over.

I wonder what her thoughts are about Obama not running as a
Communist or her thoughts on him saying marriage is between a man and a woman or If you like your plan you can keep your plan?

“Also, all of the sudden Trump supporters find these polls totally reliable, although usually they are treated with skepticism?”

I am very skeptical of the numbers. The real number must be way higher than that.

Unfortunately she probably will. Warren will never run. The fact that she is a total hypocrite Wall Street crony, among other things, prevents her from going higher than she is.

So just what does Trump's success say about the gross inability of the other more ‘qualified’ candidates to speak to the issues on the minds of the electorate?

And he's the buffoon?

I would add that he is the ONLY candidate I have ever heard say that he would use being pro life as a litmus test for Supreme Court nominees.

...you really think he is that mentally messed up that he would put himself through this just to screw up the system?
I'm going with him being sincere as the only logical conclusion.

And I will wholeheartedly support and vote for him if he runs third party against Bush.

Yes, even though Trump had the highest negatives of any candidate ever. Even thought the media is in love with the ratings that Trump controversy gives them, and has every motive to put their finger on the scale. Even though the candidate was a Democrat not long ago and is tight with the Clintons.

I believe she is right and ‘The Donald’ is using the same playbook that ‘Brobama’ used in capturing his nomination.

Think about it broad ‘red meat’ statements that he really didn't believe in or plan to act on. He gave the many what they wanted a dog and pony of hope and change while declaring just how brilliant he is. He is like Brobama taking popular positions that he had never had before and had done nothing to promote. I wonder if the Brobama's Roman Columns are available for The Donald's' coronation?

Amen,
We need a conservative, not a guy that plays the game to get on the inside to make rules for “Himself”, just like all the others but not a as squishy.

It is extremely unlikely that Donald Trump will ever be president

You're stuck in June.

It becomes more likely by the day.
